A how to guide on how to deal with Master Yi.

Due to an incredibly high amount of salt levels on the forums considering Yi at the moment, i have decided to tell you all how i deal with Master Yi considering i cant remember the last time i lost against one.

Step 1) Do not play junglers that are forced to farm to 6 that dont scale exceptionally well. The best example of this i can think of is . Your ganks pre6 are so mediocre that you will be doing the exact same thing as Master Yi to the 6-8 minute mark; Farming. The issue with this is while you provide good engage and teamfight pressence, Yi will essentially outscale you, as you wont be able to invade him due to your jungling prowess being mediocre.

**Step 2) **Pick strong duelists, bonus if you have fast clear speeds to outfarm him. Good Yis will always take red smite, and as he is a "right click to win" champion, you need to pick champions that he cant deal with, atleast in the early and mid game. Cowsep's (probably the most known Yi main) champions that he hates to face against are: to give you an idea. I personally recommend , but also one of my niche picks into Yi is as you scale just as hard as he does, the only difference being you are quite a bit tankier. If he doesnt build BORK, you win that fight basically everytime. Also is a fantastic pick into Yi.

**Step 3) **Counterjungle. This is the hardest thing for lower elos to wrap their heads around. THERE IS MORE TO YOUR JUNGLE THAN JUST YOUR SIDE OF THE MAP. If you were wise enough to pick a champion that can capitalize on Yi's weak early game, then you invade his jungle constantly. Make it to the point that his laners have to leave to come deal with you, only for you to just W over dragon pit and make them waste their time. Instead of laners getting babysat by their junglers, they will have to do that for him, and boy oh boy does that tilt them.

**Step 4) **Dominate Herald, Dragon, and Scuttles. Pretty straight forward, but use your wards around these areas to catch Yi trying to solo Herald and dragon as he will likely be under 40% hp by the time he finishes it.

Step 5) Around the 6-8 minute mark Yi will hit level 6 (if you managed to make it longer than that, Good job!). However if your invading didnt pay off, he will be likely be looking for a gank as he just hit his ultimate. When your bot lane is basically auto attacking their tower, its time for you to move to the bot side of the map, and make a 3v3 skirmish with your bot lane. As Yi is still quite weak even with his ultimate that early into the game (likely not even having devourer), you will win that fight with basically any high tier jungler. Trust me when i say this, if you mess up Yi's level 6 gank, it changes the tone of the entire game.

TLDR; For the first 20 minutes of the game, you need to make Yi know that the game is in your hands. If you cant do this, then Yi will just freefarm the entire game and of course hes going to hit his powerspikes sooner as you did nothing to deal with him. As a jungler, i love facing Master Yi, especially since they tilt so hard considering most of the people who pick him up just want the "freelo". Hope you feel the same after reading this.
