It's pretty sad when Tahm Kench is labeled as a support as well

Mainly because it shows there's absolutely no reason to pick Bard even more.

Are people still on the Bard QQ train? Have you played Bard?

I'd prefer Bard support over Thresh 100% of the time. Stronger CC, better map presence, more reliable engages, better peel.

I think the problem with Bard is and always will be the fact that he has, individually, four amazing abilities that have little to no synergy with one another. Q's range is so short that it's hard to reliably use against smart opponents. This wouldn't be an issue if he had reliable mobility to position himself for optimal attacks, but he doesn't save for E. W has great use in long-sustained poking and tower sieging, but Bard himself has nothing to really add to that role (and his ultimate can actively cause problems if it accidentally hits the turret). His E can be used to make some interesting plays, but it's really up to his team to do things with the portal. It only helps him actively land Q if his enemies follow you through it since, 99/100, your the one close to the wall when you emerge, not your enemy. His ultimate is very powerful, but he has little way to guarantee it lands, and even if it does, there isn't anything he can directly follow up with, save walking up and hitting a Q if they are lined up properly.

In the end, your team has to be the ones to make use of your abilities as Bard, not the Bard player themselves. His team reliance is probably why he's not very popular.
