Riot Refuses To Add URF As A Permenent Gamemode because....

Because they say it would take to much "maintenance"

Now pretending that's the case and it would require a lot, why not make it just a custom game option? So we can play with friends who don't care whats broken or not.

We all want URF to stay. Literally no harm done in making it permanent.

There is indeed harm done. The harm is known as community fracturing.

What this means is by adding a new permanent game mode will take away from ques of other modes. Now, for the more popular regions such as NA this isn't a huge deal. Maybe an increase of a minute at the very most, like when URF was actually out last year. However the issue isn't limited to these regions as League is a global game. Less active regions (like Brazil iirc) already have low-peak periods that interfere with ques like dominion and 3v3 and have needed to shut-down these ques simply due to the horrendous que times (because there is no one quieing).

This is happening without a new mode. Now, the simplest thing to do would be to simply only add URF to the more active regions that can support it. Good idea.....for the people in those regions. Meanwhile you're screwing over everyone is the less active regions and you get major complaint on exclusivity.

Dominion was made before League was a major global presence and ARAM already had a significant slice of the community in custom lobbies by itself so adding them was cake at the time without having these issues. Now however, that is no longer the case.

tl;dr The issue isn't that simple.

Also: Meta stagnation. Trust me you don't want URF permanent.

Then make it a custom only feature. Which is what im proposing.

Urf got boring really quick because people figured out the most-op champs for that game mode, and eventually only ever played those champions.

I thought I read that as a reason it was removed, but maybe I'm wrong. They wanted to 'give people a chance to wind down, and be able to play it again with fresh eyes'.

With the ever expanding roaster of champions and champions buffs and nerfs. There will be ups and downs like in normal games where champion popularity spikes and drops.

All featured game types should be available as custom game types.

Maybe people will actually play Custom every once in a while, then.

Although URF game mode was soo much fun, i would have to agree with sirarm's response. If URF was a permanent game mode, I'm sure queue times for SR map would increase. But that's the point of a game, to be able to play different things if you so solemnly choose to. But that was the problem with the game mode too, I drank monster energy drinks to rev up my reaction times to perma spammed abilities. Playing for a few hours really gets you used to the fast paced game mode. So when it finally discontinued and i went back to the other game modes, i felt really sluggish. I no longer knew my cooldowns on abilities and found myself out of mana constantly until i relearned i cant just spam abilities. haha.. But at the same token, The new game mode looks aweful. 2 abilities basically cost you, your entire mana pool. So team fights will be a bunch of BS, people attempting todo something(somehow) but taking forever todo one thing. I could forsee team fights being aced and 1 guy living, but doesn't have the health or mana to even push a tower before the enemy team respawns since it takes you X amount of time to get from outer turret to inner. Then to AA a tower looks painful.

Some footage i found of this game mode. I'd rather play URF for day than NURF imo.. hope its all some cruel joke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNeK02rgxQs

If it were random champion picks from the full champion pool then yes I would like it to stay because it would take muuch longer to get stale, otherwise no.

Don't throw around phrases like "We all want URF".. because we don't all want URF. I honestly have no desire at all to have it as a permanent game mode. Or as a playable mode ever again for that matter. It was meant to be fun, it was, that's it.
