Morellonomicon was significantly changed for being a "must buy staple" for AP champs

item 3147 is a must buy staple.

item 3095 is a must buy staple.

Both are infinitely more problematic than Morello ever was.

What the shit is going on with the balance team?

It wasn't just being a must-buy, but a must-buy must-rush that was the problem. Mages didn't have a choice but to buy Morello first.

You can very much get Youmuu's before Duskblade (May be preferable, actually, simply due to faster roaming), and Stormrazor is hardly core or a rush on every good ADC (MF, one of the top-tier ADCs right now, doesn't even look at the item most of the time. Draven, as far as I'm aware, still rushes Bloodthirster).

Also, Riot's been nerfing Stormrazor and Duskblade, in case you weren't paying attention.

Have you not been paying attention yourself?

Each "nerf" comes with a compensation buff to the item in some shape or form - at the most we at least got a flat damage nerf to Duskblade a while back by itself. But Stormrazor has simply had its numbers shifted around (which literally fixes nothing about its most problematic applications) and MF builds - oh boy - Duskblade! Probably because the item has been an overtuned mess since its conception, and Stormrazor is none the better in its application, allowing free targetted pokes on most ADC's that go it and RFC. It is a 100% needed weapon, and for any crit ADC it's a must-rush for the sole reason that without it, you will not spike quickly enough. If you try to go IE into a crit item, you won't put the damage to much use nor will you hardly ever crit - if you go an AS crit item, you will do no damage. The only answer is Stormrazor.

And even Draven has taken to rushing Stormrazor because an immediate crit off of one of his Q's that early in the game chunks for quite a lot.

If they aren't rushing Stormrazor, they're rushing Duskblade. If they're not rushing Duskblade, they're rushing Stormrazor. It is absolutely identical to Morello/Rod of Ages before the rework where if you were a battle mage you went RoA, if you were a normal mage it was Morello. Youmuu's is little more than an exception to this pattern like going Archangel's was - just because a few would find Youmuu's more enticing doesn't make the other any less of a must-buy.

Neither are must buys.

They have also been nerfing both items because of this. Not seeing the issue here.

Honestly I think Riot is trying to avoid balancing champions individually so they are just making super overtuned items that are a must buy for the class. Then if for example Duskblade assassins are too strong they can just nerf that. Same for Stormrazor.

It's also why they turned Ludens into a core AP item (it has the exact same function as the other 2, gives more damage), so when mages are strong they can just nerf that.

Tbh the changes didn't do shit at the end. item 3285 is for mages who aren't that mana hungry if you aren't this type of mage, you just buy item 3003 also get 20% cdr (same as old morello) and stop caring about mana

I often skip duskblade on both rengar and zed lol

I find Youmuu's + sweeper to be much more useful
