"We don't like how a champion can perform without even using one of the abilities"

That is what Rito said about Kog'Maw's Q, regarding Kog'Maw players literally not putting a point in Q unless required.(back in S5 iirc)

Now can we say the same thing about how Jhin can perform in teamfight with only W and R?

the difference is that jhin requires his Q for laning phase and his E is always used.

his Q is literally used purely for csing because the reload mechanic.

His E is used solely as a ward.

Jhin teamfighting vs kogmaw not taking a point in a skill isn't a similar thing. Jhin is always going to take all of his basic skills and he is going to use all of them purposefully. Kogmaw not taking a skill until he is forced to then not even using that skill as intended lategame is a problem. A lot of kogs wouldnt even waste time pressing Q they would just hit W and stat check you to death.

I fail to see how not using an ability in a teamfight is akin to not putting a single point in it until late game

his E is put off more than ashe's E was.. u just don't need it and quite frankly the only purpose it serves is setting up his W or a weak bush ward. His QWR is extremely strong w.o it.
