Why can we have games with the same people who just fed/trolled/raged?

FistOfSharkiesha··15 votes·1,108 views

I just carried a 3/13 ekko who was clearly not an english speaker and always did a :) emoji as he trolled. Got him in my next champ select and dodged.

Why is this even possible? If I mute someone I shouldn't be placed on their team a second time in a row. I'd queue for 20 mins if it meant not being on his team.

EDIT: If this could cause problem at high elos just put it in place for normals and low elo. I doubt there are even trolls in master anyways.

It should, but Riot is against people having good experiences in LoL.

That made my morning, thank you.

I'm actually beginning to think that looking back at the recent patches.

Maybe you should've taken a couple minutes to grab a drink or something before jumping back into the matchmaking system. There's a good chance you will find at least one or two of the same players from your last match, as everyone just pushes the play again button. Whenever I find a frustrating teammate, I just take a minute to let them re-queue before I do. Muting people and reporting people doesn't preclude them from being in your next queue, nor should it. The player base is what it is. Someone is going to be that Ekko's teammate, Riot doesn't let you pick and choose based off of who you have muted.

The reason is because at high elos, the player base is small. So, people can just mute to not get in the same games as someone that is really good. That's the theory at least.

So make it only work <plat?

PDE5 Inhibitors1 votes

Has been suggested. I guess their theory is that if you play enough games, the same thing can happen at lower elos.

Tails Doll1 votes

But I dont think it would be enough to actually be a problem, especially < gold, where the player base is so huge.

PDE5 Inhibitors1 votes

I completely agree. I, however, don't make the rules and rito doesn't like to listen to things that aren't, "he said bad word to me, ban him".

the rationale about this is that when the prospective player pool becomes smaller (like pro play), players can just mute/block their top competitors, eliminating the only competition.

Think about it this way: if your player pool for matchmaking was 50 players large, you have a solid chance of encountering any given player more than once in a set of games. So if that player mains a hard counter of yours, or constantly camps your lane, you would be able to block him and not have to ever deal with him in lane.

BluePolarizer1 votes

why not allow the players you block to be on the other team but not on your team?

That way it's impossible to abuse since you'll still have to go against them, you just won't have to play with them. It's also impossible to block everyone worse than you if a large but finite maximum limit (say 75 blocks max; to add more, you have to unblock them) was enforced. I picked 75 because the challenger pool is only 200 people, so this system works up to even challenger.

SolusInCadere1 votes

that could work

PDE5 Inhibitors1 votes

So then you just ban all the really bad players, making them on the other team.

BluePolarizer1 votes

enforce a 75 block maximum limit; that way even challengers can't block all the bad players. There's way, way way more than 75 bad players out there.

PDE5 Inhibitors1 votes

75 is almost half of the entire challenger pool (assuming your 200 is correct). That's actually a ridiculously large amount to have control of playing with lol.

BluePolarizer1 votes

challenger is by definition the top 200 in a server. even if they block the lowest 75 challengers whose to say a masters player with similar mmr wont be on their team?

PDE5 Inhibitors1 votes

Think of it this way. Guy ranked #5 can start blocking all the people around him. Say 50 spots. So now Mr. ranked #5 is playing against people ranked 50 and below. This leads Mr. #5 to win his games. Mr. #5 then blocks numbers 1-4 so that he doesn't have to play top lane vs Dyrus. Mr. #5 now takes position #1 without being the #1 ranked player.

Being able to block half of the challenger pool is a HUGE thing.

BluePolarizer1 votes

The guys you block can be on the enemy team. They can't be on your team. Let's say this guy is #5. He blocks #1-#4. All that means is that he doesn't have to be on #1-#4's team. He can still go against #1-#4. Blocking does NOT I repeat does NOT affect who can or can't be on the enemy team under my proposition.

If he doesn't want to play WITH the worst 50 challengers, np. The system will then start putting MASTER players on his team with similar MMR to bottom tier challengers which makes it even worse for him, theoretically.

FistOfSharkiesha1 votes

In that case just allow this for lower elos and normal games. There aren't any trolls in master to my knowledge.

Then queue for 20 minutes.....

Knoyle1 votes

I think I had the same ekko in one of my queues. He was jungler. Barely ganked and when he did he would die pathetically and just give us that :))))))

quite an annoying thing. If you block a user you shouldn't have to be in the same game with them.

Cherysse1 votes

Because matchmaking sucks, I have over 2k peopleon my death note and some of them at any point maybe matched with me.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

Dodging is a fine solution to this tbh. Otherwise youve got some idiots just muting everyone who they dont want on their team

slippykitten1 votes

Because high level players who have smaller opponent pool can just mute out their competition, ensuring better teams.

and other blah blah blah about things that negatively affect 99% of the community but is still catered to the top 1%.

Because, who really cares if you get trolled a thousand times, as long as the 11 guys in master have a good time.

Arch Mage Magnus1 votes

technology isn't there yet

Korillo1 votes

Everyone has a bad game from time to time, it doesn't mean they should be excluded from playing again. If you don't want to play with them again immediately maybe wait a few minutes before queuing back up.
