Assassin Killspeeds
While everyone was discussing the differences between AP and AD damage, I noticed something about the caster assassins that basically matched it; AP Assassins take much longer to kill a target in general versus their AD Caster counterparts. The main complaint here is their late game kill speeds; why is there a discrepancy between them? And before you say it, yes I know all of these champions are generally cancer to play against early-mid game.
Please note, I'm going by what the LoL Client considers an Assassin, namely these Champions:

Additionally, I'm referring to all the champions affected by the Assassin Update a year ago, which are...

And minor-ly:

That said, I'm ignoring
because they weren't targeted by the update.
I'm also ignoring
because his apparent main source of damage is autoattacks (based on what Champion.gg says about his build path; on-hit, crit, and hydra) rather than annihilating someone with his spells. I would have ignored Master Yi for the same reason, had he been affected by the update.
Now, for the most part, only caster Assassins were affected by this update (classes that rely on their spells mostly for damage rather than mostly utility). While
,
,
,
and
(and possibly
and
) use autoattacks, they still nuke targets with their respective damage abilities and passives rather then using them for utility like
and
do.
The AP Assassins are as followed:

The commonality between most of these champions is that the amount of time they take to kill a target were increased with the Assassin update.
now has to wait 1.5 seconds for Sigil of Malice to proc without any real lock down besides Ethereal Chains. Late game, Ethereal Chains doesn't help versus her main targets; she has to wait 1.5 seconds near her target where she'll inevitably get burst down.
now has to wait 1.25 seconds for her Daggers to fully drop before she can actually do real damage with them. Late game, she dies before she can use her trademark Voracity skill because her Daggers take too long to drop.
now has to wait 2 seconds before his mark can do extra damage. While this isn't a big issue because of Playful/Trickster and Chum the Waters, the latter affect is hard to snag in a team fight, and if he decided to get up close (barring the possibility of an enchanter ccing him to death), his ultimate will do poor damage, likely not netting him the kill.
wasn't necessarily changed in terms of kill speed here; he has to do the same thing except without tankiness from the tankko fiasco.
now has to land Q, two auto attacks, and E all the while she has no attack speed, has to be in melee range, and has no reliable invisibility from her shroud. Similarly to all, they die before being truly useful.
I don't really need to explain why
all have smaller kill speeds. If need be, most of their skills have instant cast times, and take less than a second to do massive damage. Why they still exist like this while AP Assassins are left to rot is bewildering to me.
Let's talk about their itemization now.
AD Assassins have access to
,
,
,
, and
. For comparable items, AP Assassins have access to
(which is worse than
, mind you),
(which can't be used when you want it to compared to
), and
which is basically a crappy
that was originally meant for Hybrids, and not AP. Heck, Leblanc builds
just because there's not a better item to burst targets with.
Clearly there's a problem. Is it favoritism? Bad balance decisions? LC$ big plays? Who knows. All I know is, AP is worse than AD.
