Fixing MMR: Its actually possible.

So, I've been a Jg main since i started playing league in late s6, started out as a bronzie worked my way up thru silver. Well at the end of season 8 i was silver 1 hovering around 70 LP. Season 9 comes around, and they introduce positional MMR/matchmaking, I was pretty hyped because I enjoy playing a lot of midlane champs (mainly yasuo), so at the start of season 9 I started spamming midlane games to try and learn the role better and have some fun.

Well lets just say that at the MMR I was at then, I was not prepared to be a mid main LOL, i ended up playing about 130 mid games and ended up with around a 42% winrate for the role. But its all good, i thought, I can just switch back to Jg primary and grind my way to gold on that! WRONG.

Shortly after I had switched back to Jg primary Riot Cancelled positional matchmaking and merged the Positional MMR. So my nice Jg MMR which was ~ silver 1 got dragged down by merging with my midlane MMR (which had more games played this season by a lot), and dragged it down to B1/s4 level.

A lot of my games were absolute fiestas, full of true new players trying to drop from silver 4 into bronze, and others who were placed in iron but had high bronze low silver MMR, and it felt awful seemed like the games were just stomps with the losing team having more new players/people who didn't know what they were doing.

Because of this frustrating game quality, i switched to playing flex for a while and just playing for fun, But of course in flex your gonna run into a ton of trolls and a couple months ago i got tired of that and went back to soloQ, and now after grinding it out Its looking like ive finally got my MMR back close to around silver 2! A bit of a shame that I gave up on Solo Q earlier in the season, because I probably could have fixed it a lot sooner if i had been persistent But I'm just happy that my account isnt doomed to forever be playing with tons of new players.
