Does ekko just need higher/non-scaling mana costs?

The lovely fighter/mage/assassin/tank that we all love clearly has some problems with being able to utilize items which aren't intended for him.

Though i was thinking... the main problem comes down to ekko having tools from all the aforementioned archetypes, yet really lacking any real disadvantage of those same designs. Shy of being melee...

ATM his costs are pretty low compared to mages with similar capabilities... Like comparing him to karma, their ability costs and base damages are very close, yet karma has only 1/3 of the utility. Even scaling damage across their kits, karma actually has less.

::Rant Beyond this point:: I'm very critical of the champion designs, what has been deemed acceptable by riot, for a while now. While there are some champions who i feel need to have some serious changes having overstepped what should've been considered "acceptable" , cough RivenYasuoLeeSinFioraThreshTahmKenchZed cough, I'm pretty sure that ekko is the only champion that i can unquestionably say can't be fixed and keep his identity...

He either needs a complete re-release, on the scale of the karma re-release, or outright removal. The only reason for this is because by having all the aspects of his kit which allow him to be played proficiently as a mage, assassin, fighter, or tank. He simply can abuse almost literally any meta which rises. The only exclusion being marksmen meta... but idk crit ekko anyone?

I don't think that would help, it might even hurt, since IBG is one of the most solid mana items in the game and was a pretty core part of tank ekko.

Honestly though I don't think Tanko is that big of a deal right now, he has some changes on the pbe and he is far from oppressive anymore. There shouldn't be any reason why he can't be played tank, the issue was that he was doing so while still acting as a damage dealer with more mobility and escape than juggernauts. Now that his dmg has been drawn back substantially he really isn't that out of line on the tank spectrum. That combined with the PBE changes should put him firmly in a position where he is fine both AP and Tank, which there isn't really a problem with.

He will be fine if they somehow eradicate tanky builds. Assassin Ekko is annoying like all ass ass ins are, but it's not as weakness-free as tank Ekko - because being melee isn't really a disadvantage if you are unkillable, hyper-mobile and have artillery-range waveclear.
