I Made a Bard Guide :D

Bard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1c7mVbwWR8 I always get the most complements in my Bard games and I have a healthy collection of S+'s with him so I thought I would share some tips.

I posted this to miscellaneous and it was removed with a suggestion to post it here... does not seem like the right place but here it is anyway....

I love Bard , but I have a few issues with your guide.

  1. LvL 1 Tactics:

    • You stay to stand by that torch and get 2 chimes
    • Instead you should be helping other lanes by giving them shrines
    • Go on a route of Top --> Mid --> Jungle giving 1 shrine to each, collecting chimes on the way.
    • This way you have a much bigger effect on the lanes than sitting by the torch useless.
  2. Not to be rude, but this guide isn't very good. If I was a new guy wanting to play Bard, I would look at your guide and be like "wat"

    • You just give a few random tips about bard which are more or less you running around with your buddy ekko spamming q once in a while.
    • Instead, try making a mobafire guide, giving builds, masteries, runes, counters, synergys, ability explanations, when to roam, when to use abilities, how to use abilities, all that stuff.
    • I have no doubt you are probably a fine bard, but this really doesn't cut it as a guide. If you wanna help people play The Wandering Caretaker, make a mobafire guide.

Level 1 Q is stronger than level 1 W. Arguably the strongest level 1 ability in the game. The only people that start W are people who are new to Bard. Look at any pro player / win statistics for Bard and you will find Q has the highest win rate. A low c/d ranged (potential double) stun/slow. The stun benefit for your Jungler when leashing are identical when compared to shrines, especially for krugs.

I didn't set out to create a full blown guide just some tips and the me running around was to demonstrate the EQ combo. Maybe I'll consider something more in depth in the future.

I didn't watch the video, but I disagree on this point. Level 1 W, when all three are placed in your lane, gives you about 250 extra health for whoever needs it and infinite sustain with the headstart of three Shrines (if you're not getting poked hard, you can replace them as fast as necessary). Or, you can give Shrines to your mid to ease them into a difficult lane or your jg to enable early ganks - I find top to be a bit too far with the earlier spawns.

Starting Q gives you decent level 1 poke, especially with Thunderlord's, but few ADCs can make big plays off a level 1 stun that the other ADC/Support won't have some way to nullify. W has more overall utility, and you can just take Q second - there probably won't be any action in your lane until then. And if you place your Shrines well, the other Support/ADC won't even know you started W.

It's about early pressure and utility. There have been a few highlights during my learning Bard that improved my win rates. The two biggest are 1) always start spellthief 2) q start is better.
