Thresh has been bugged for awhile, where his flay was providing more CC than intended. As a result they're pulling the nerfs and just fixing the bug, and then they'lll see if further nerfs are needed.

I'm lead to believe they only discovered the bug in the process of testing other nerfs.

It's not difficult to trace back when something changed. They presumably have the ability to go back to old patches to check, not to mention theres probably revision history and 'last edited on' and similar means to tell from the code directly once they know what they're looking for.

You don't seem to understand how bugs pop up. They pop up after patch changes, so they're unseen. However, by watching Winrate jumps, you could easily figure out when it popped up.

Funny how they only take this wait and see approach for certain champions. Like when lethality was nerfed and they said they wanted to wait a patch to re-assess Jhin but hardcore nerfed Miss Fortune and Varus regardless. Or that time when Rylai's was nerfed and they wanted to wait a patch to re-assess Syndra, who barely builds the item at all, but at the same time completely gutted AP Kog who was extremely reliant on Ryali's. This is a bit different because it's a bug, but in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if there was another less popular champion that has been damaged through both bug fixes and nerfs in the same patch that I just can't remember right now. Thresh has been strong for quite a while now, they really should have gotten on nerfs sooner to avoid backlash from something like this.

they are going to pretend they are trying to figure out a way to nerf thresh until the lcs patch so that he gets picked in pro play.

Has anyone ever found themselves chasing an out of position thresh , and he just flays you and runs away because of the flay slow ? Not to mention him hooking you assisting him in running away ??? It's a hook ? He's got hold of you, why is that assisting him in running away from you ? Last time I checked when you runaway from someone last thing you want tot do is grab them.
