IMO the support item changes are a good thing

No seriously. It is really dumb that the support can make one bad decision that would force an ADC to back, but because they have 2 extra potions + ADC probably popped heal that they can sit in lane as if nothing went wrong. I'm sorry that item 2031 potion takers got nerfed in the process, but for the overall health of the game it was required. IDK but it should say a lot that item 2031 is a viable option on supports. It says just how bad the meta is in bot that you could sacrifice 150g for a dead end item that has almost no influence on the lane where lane influence used to be so big just a few patches ago (I am in no way stating that refillable start was broken or OP, just that it's sad that it could be done because of how strong supports are).

I understand where you're coming from but what I dislike is how they completely removed any choice from the starting items now. We used to be able to choose between pots, refillable, or mana/health regen item. Now its starting item and 2 pots every time. They may as well just fill our inventories automatically at the start of the game now.

I mean midlane AP has almost always been item 1056 + 2 pots and adc has almost always been item 1055 + pot. It's not like being forced to build a certain way is new, but it has forced other roles into healthier states for a long time and creates less levers to balance as lane phase is already super volatile right now.

Which really sucks, I mean this game is all about in game customization and stuff in terms of items so i wish there was a bit more diversity in the early but as you said balance would be chaos. I am gonna miss my refill...

Supports have been continually shit on this season and the last. Riot needs to get it together and stop driving the role into the ground. Enchanters are already almost troll picks this season, so it's no wonder more and more people are taking odd things bot lane with the way that they seem to be unceremoniously shoving true supports and marksmen out of the bot lane.

No supports are still in bot lane and going strong, its just hard supports are left with a gap with no hyper carry to protect. Therefore normal supports are still going strong doing their job but for non-adcs and the occasional ADC.

And by hard supports I mean people like Janna Lulu Leona Thresh Alistar, The ones that were trying to keep the ADC alive because their kits are kind of eh on their own without DPs behind them.
