How does everyone feel about Shyvana's Ult?

Personally, I find Shyvana 's ult really clunky. It has some displacement, it can serve as a gapcloser and an escape, and it enhances her regular abilities; however, it doesn't feel super impactful to me. The flight part can be smashed away by a Jayce E, a Lee R...you're telling me a freakin dragon in flight, with all of their weight and momentum, gets knocked away by a puny hammer? I mean good for Lee and Jayce to have the strength for that, but excuse me if I call bullshit. And, after your flight, you land, and...nothing. You just touch down like a tepid little bird.

On top of the active part of the ult being underwhelming, while dragon form is strictly better than regular form, it still feels like you're playing regular Shyvana . Sure, you get to leave a burnout trail, but that doesn't really help her playstyle, to have her become a temporary, lamer Singed. Sure, you shoot three shots of fire instead of one, but at that range I hope you don't miss with one anyway. Look at Swain , how much stronger he feels when his ult's up and he's transformed into a giant demon bird. Look at Gnar, how much scarier he gets. Valor even packs a whallop that Quinn can't (though that's fairly situational). Shyvana just doesn't change that much.

Can we possibly make her feel a little less lame? Maybe make her untargetable during flight, maybe add an aoe knockup to the ult landing? Or maybe change up her ulted E so she breathes some real, sustained fire (vel'koz laser with fire, anyone? Definitely more thematic than practical but TELL ME THAT WOULDN'T BE AWESOME)? I dunno. I know she's not BAD right now, but she does feel less dragon-y than I'd like, and I think changing up her abilities a bit wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Personally I like the ult in a general sense but feel there can be two major (but subtle) improvements to be made.

  1. Give her 100% Tenacity for the duration of the leap. The reason I say "100% Tenacity" and not "CC Immune" or "untargetable" is because, from a gameplay standpoint, it makes sense to be allowed to knock Shyvana away. And not being allowed to do so would allow her all-in kit too much power. 100% Tenacity would allow a shyvana player some play-making capacity with the timing of her ult as well as cut down the ridiculous moments of ulting in just to be stopped (MID-AIR) by Taric's Dazzle or Ryze's Rune prison. (Seriously, it really kills her high points)

  2. Make her dragon form model a bit bigger. This is actually a larger (pun not intended) implication than most realize. This allows her already decent mobility to close the gap even faster while allowing her to utilize her biggest bonus (the free resistances) more. Now I'm not saying make her model 6-stack Cho'gath size, but definitely bigger than it currently is and scale her ability size by the same scale.

Huh. Interesting point about the tenacity, I like it. Larger dragon form would also be neat, though for thematic purposes I also can understand her being the size she is now: half-dragons probably don't get to be full-scale.

I'm doing my best to avoid "scale" puns here, it's hard :P

Anyway, just to note I actually believe with the new SR update (and the respective new dragon mob) she is bigger than Dragon during her ult. Need to confirm to be 100% though.

Yeah, I like the 100% tenacity during ult leap. That is a solid QoL boost.

Definitely no additional stats while she's in dragon form. She's already beasty enough.

I'ld prefer a knock-up over a knockback. Maybe add a VISUAL effect when she attacks a midair target (while being a dragon) So she does not hit it with her fist but rather snaps it out of air with her jaws. No extra damage, just a more exciting animation.

swain plays in almost the exact same way btw

Yes, but the ability granted by his ultimate is not only extremely beneficial to his normal playstyle, but feels cool thematically, and also is unique to his kit. It makes him better at what he does in a cool way. Shyv's dragon form abilities, to me, feel lame by comparison.

Does he? Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't play him, but all of his basic abilities are mage spells with mage ranges, with a combination of control, dps, and burst, but when he's in raven-form he wants to stand on top of people and burn them all down.

As for making Shyvana cooler, I like the AoE knock-up at the end of the ult, although you might consult with Malphite's feelings if such a change went through.

Maybe an aoe slow would be better, like a galio q but with the ground cracking on impact.

Swain's Q and E have ranges about equivalent to basic attack range and W only has a bigger range so he can catch people and approach them to actually use his Q and E without getting kited around. He always wants to burn down people. His ult only makes him actually able to stand his ground and deal more damage as well as heal himself.

Please drop the Swain comparison, he and Shyvana have nothing in common beyond having a transformation ulti.

making her model bigger just makes it easier for skillshots to hit her, and when these are snares or stuns, it really kills shyvana's need to stick on the backline as much as possible in teamfights

you want big champ models for those that have peel for their team, which is not what shyvana's domain is

plus it's already been done this season, and when that happenned her winrate dropped by quite a lot
