It's not possible to beat Gnar 1v1 as a melee champion. Change my mind

Gnar has the range of an ADC, more DPS than any melee champ before 3 items(sometimes 2), and can build Black cleaver + Frozen mallet to make himself nigh-unkillable while dishing out insane amounts of damage in mini form

In Mega form Gnar has more range than Most melee champs and has insanely good damage + CC in burst form while also allowing Gnar to effectively take no damage if he only takes the damage that Mega Gnar's health gives him

"he's weak after using his abilities" well what champ isn't weak after they can't use a particular move?

"His mega form is when melee champs can contest with him" His mega form is what allows him to have a lot of CC while giving him a dash that lets him use his larger basic attack range to poke melee champs down with NO RISK WHATSOEVER

"His mini-form doesn't do that much damage earlygame" well it does more DPS than any top melee champ until 3 items which is around 20-30 minutes against a NORMAL toplaner. Against Gnar that delay is extended to 30-40+ minutes which lets Gnar freefarm

"he's weak to ganks" Gnar's dash lets him bounce off of his own minions. This in turn lets him avoid ANY ganks that he would otherwise die to JUST because he happened to be near minions. Gnar's dash also has a huge range, this in addition to the Q slow makes Gnar ungankable for most junglers+toplaners

There's no possible way that a melee champ can beat a Gnar of the same skill level in lane without ganks, and even then it'd be insanely hard

No.

I pick Garen into him, and have a great deal of success doing so, but I can't be bothered to dig through my match history to find the last game I played against Gnar.

If you can't learn the lesson of "you don't need kills to win lane" that's on you, and none of us have to teach it to you.

Play him, not just once. Like legitimately get him to lvl 4-5, play him in literally every melee matchup you can.

Anyone with mobility and cc beats gnar in lane. Certain ones even beat him out of lane if they play well.
