The State of Rengar

I know other things have taken priority here on the boards (Tank Update) and other things are always an easy upvote (Yasuo / Fizz ) but I want to take a most-likely unpopular stance:

Rengar Rengar Rengar

The last nerf just put him in an atrocious state: 45.29% win rate from champion.gg 46.03% win rate from op.gg 44.1% win rate from leagueofgraphs

His last nerf:

Q - Savagery DAMAGE PER STRIKE: 35/55/75/95/115 ⇒ 25/45/65/85/105 (empowered damage unchanged) RATIO PER STRIKE: 0.3/0.4/0.5/0.6/0.7 bonus attack damage ⇒ 0.2/0.3/0.4/0.5/0.6 bonus attack damage (empowered damage unchanged)

This was a horrendous nerf designed to knock him not just out of meta, but out of viability. I know he's not your guys's favorite champion, but some people (me) do/did enjoy playing him and I just wanted to raise awareness how bad this guy got slammed.

Give me my kitty back please :(

edit: I figured I'd get downvoted for making a post that isn't ranting about a "toxic" champion, but all I ask is that you actually look at the post and what it provides instead of getting blinded by your hate with the "I hate this champion so he has to stay gutted" logic

I liked old rengar better, they added good ways to counter his ult in the update, and make it so he shouldnt just one shot you instantly (even though he ended up doing it anyways)

so why not make a mix of the two rengars, because old rengo was more fun to play, while new rengo has more balance in his kit than old rengar

That's a matter of perspective and opinion.

I think based on how many nerfs he has received and how abusable he is as a tank, his rework really hasn't but him in a healthier position.

tbh i dont know why people go off win rates it the dumbest thing ever to judge if there good or not because you could have bad rengar players dragging the win rate down and the soso ones and then the mains that drag it up imo i never go off win rate why judge a character off that it should be how well you can play them and carry games thats just me tho.

He has extremely low winrates with a below-average play rate.

It also shows a very clear drop in win-rate at 7.7 (the patch of his nerf) where he went from a ~50% win rate to where it is now at about a ~45%.

Honestly, if you don't want to use statistics of a before and after shot from the nerf, in which the only reasonable variable that could've changed was the nerf, idk how you expect to see how a nerf effected a champion.

Idk how a winrate doesn't suggest how strong a champion is, as that's kinda all a winrate is. Can it be skewed by other variables? Ya of course, but in general an extremely low winrate and a below-average play rate points to something being wrong, especially if both his playrate and winrate dropped from slightly above average -> his current numbers over the course of a single nerf.

I don't want to seem like I'm trying to justify the Rengar nerfs, nor do I feel like he deserves to be the state he is in now. However, his kit is toxic. There is no way around that. He's an assassin with a cleanse, hard CC, as well as camo. If Rengar is every going to be an assassin, then his kit will have to be changed dramatically. My question for you, is do you want that, or do you want him to be reworked into a bruiser?

I want him to be an assassin, he has too many unique qualities to just do away with and force him into a bruiser role.

I'll agree that his kit is relatively toxic (and I'll assume that's why I'm getting downvotes, because any sympathy against a toxic champion is blasphemy on the boards) but he was fun to play (to me anyways) and I felt as though a lot of his toxicity could be managed through adjusting his jump ranges from ult and passive.

That's just my suggestion though, I just wanted to make a post about the abysmal state of Rengo atm

Rengar is in this state because the rework accomplished nothing. He's just as (if not more) hard to balance than he was previously, all that has changed now is his play style.

Riot, swallow your pride and revert him, your rework failed to accomplish anything, pretty sure his old kit only needed a few changes to put him in a better spot than he is now.
