Ahri players, Is there a secret to playing her?

THE most frustrating thing I find when I play her, Is no matter how much AP I have, my Q will ALWAYS leave the caster minions with less then 10 hp

How the fuck do you remedy this?

Q won't insta clear casters unless you're ahead of the game in levels and items. Just auto each caster once first, then use q. You auto before instead of after so that none of them die to stray minion damage before you can last hit them all.

I had the same problem when i started playing her. The secret is patience and timing. Just wait a bit longer to Q them, good luck :D

Use your autoattacks.

A good rule of thumb for mages is relying on autoattacks for cs'ing, and knowing when your spells can instagib the wave (and only do this if you need/want to, not just to farm!).

She's a lot easier to play if you actually focus on the enemy instead of being zoomed in on your own tits all the time.

Or you can aim. Even from the front, you can follow it with W to clear the melee minions and pick off the ranged.

In lane phase. Aa a few minions before Q'in. This way u try and time it well so if minions take allied minion dmg, ur Q os used to clean up.

Or move often while u have Luden's. So charges build up and Q can one shot (thx charges).

Orwhen pushing wave Q, then walk a bit to em hit W while aa ing here and there.

I feel your pain. Happens every game. What you do is grab a item 1058 or item 1026 if you got the money for it (then continue building item 3165 ). Autoattack each caster once, then Q the wave, which will kill casters, and when the orb returns, use W and it will kill melee minions.

Build Ahri ADC and AA the wave

I haven't figured out Ahri's secret yet. But I've seen the character do some mighty fine damage with abilities. So, I THINK part of the secret is stacking a great deal of ability power while, at the same time, having some mana regen to keep you going. And lowering your cool down so you can keep casting. Ahri's one of the characters that punish mistakes.

Just need to practice.

Her build tells a lot; doran's ring->doran's ring->morellonomicon is one of the more effective ones. She needs a lot of mana sustain before she can roam and effectively teamfight. Until then, she pokes any mistakes with Q, or the more punishing E Q W combo if you're against trynd or voli. With her, it's all about poking and escaping alive (preferably above 80% hp).

Without the two Doran's, I have to run back to base when my mana runs out. With them, I can stay in lane until my hp runs low.

Yay! My time has come!

Q isn't efficient at waveclear until you build Lucent's Echo or similar. Instead, just autoattack farm like crazy, and punish your opponents with Q pokes. Get Q, E, W, then max Q, then max W to get your burstiness ASAP. Use E->Q to punish your opponents for not hiding behind minions/being near towers/chasing you.

And when you are ready to roam, E->Q->W, with R only for retreats or chasing for kills. Simply, don't try to clear waves with Q (unless you have to; it's better used for damaging champions). When I play, I usually win the lane by default because Q keeps them at 50% or less.

One of my last games was a voli and riven duo in my lane. It was tough, but I kept them constantly beaming back to base with timed Q until warwick came with me. Eventually, they got so annoyed that the lane turned 4v2.

Dorian's Ring x 2, eh? Hmm. I'll keep that in mind.
