Customized Item Ideas to balance some problems I have with roles. (Mage, tank, etc.)

Alright, so I finally got enough time to finish some details on two of the other ideas I had and make some art for them. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time (or the tools, I would love to use Photoshop for these) to really refine them, but these shouldn't be too painful for the eyes.

In either case, this is an extension on a post I made about a week ago, which is linked in the description. I have made some subtle changes to the items from that post, including art.

For those that haven't read the other post, these items are in for yours and my own entertainment, but they are also in response to flaws I see in the classes, so each item intends to address some issue with the class. Critique is welcome. Please Enjoy.

When you reach 4 ‘void blights’ your next iteration of damage gains “Void Damage” attributes. Cooldown: 5 seconds. (Does not stack void blight during cooldown.) Void Damage: if the damage is physical, an additional 20% of that damage is dealt as magic damage. If that damage is magical, an additional 20% of that damage is dealt as physical damage. Damage with ‘Void Damage’ attributes ignores 20% of all Armor and Magic Resist. Build Path: Executioner’s Blade + Aether Wisp Gold Cost: 800 + 850 + (950) = 2600 This item is designed for AP/AD assassins who want a cheap item to help them kill tanks and enemies in general. Almost every stat helps them, and each item in the build path has some use. (Grievous wounds or movement speed.) The actual stats on the item were kept intentially low since the passive is what it would be used for. I was trying to think of a way to give assassins burst without making it exploitable by everyone. I settled on the 'iterations of damage' idea because it includes all damage. Teemo was my model, I wouldn't want Teemo stacking it super quickly and then dealing the burst, so instead I made it so that the next iteration of damage, no matter what it is, deals the extra damage with armor/magic piercing. This quickly eliminates most DoT and Auto Attackers, leaving mages and assassins with a lot of control over their damage. Since this item has poor stats, it is best on champions with high base scaling.

Build Path: Giant’s Belt + Recurve Bow + Amplifying Tome Gold Cost: 1000 + 1000 + 435 + (465) = 2900 This item was designed with Teemo and Xin Zhao in mind. It's a survivability option for AP scaling Attack Speed champions that gives them a little of most everything they need. That said, I did try to look at it very carefully and ensure it was balanced since both champions I had in mind are quite volatile. For reference, if the champion has 450 AP, this item gives 40.5 health back every other auto.

http://media.lolusercontent.com/api/embedly/1/image/resize?url=http%3A%2F%2Fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%2Foriginals%2F9e%2F0d%2F5b%2F9e0d5b6de8fff03fd848e40c934f36db.png Emberstave: +500 health +20% Cooldown Reduction +40 Ability Power Unique Passive: Ember Blast: Every 3rd spellcast releases a burst of damage centered on your champion that deals 25(+20% AP)(+20% of the spell's damage) magic damage. If the spell that triggered this passive was a movement spell, the burst is buffered until the end of the movement. Builds from: Bami's Cinder + Kindlegem + Blasting Wand Gold Cost: 1100 + 800 + 850 + (450) = 3200 This item is an answer to my perceived lack of survivability and cooldown AP Items. Plenty of items have cooldown, and plenty have health, but I find most are incompatible with other AP items. The passive is designed to provide extra damage for melee or low-range mages and some survivability for ranged mages. While it may seem backward, dealing that extra damage when an assassin is stuck to you means killing them faster, and could very well be the difference between life and death. The only champions I think it might be OP on are Sejuani and Ryze. Ryze would buy it late due to its lack of mana, but it's perfect for Sejuani. So, it's a toss-up. This would also work really well on Amumu and maybe even Elise.

Getting another kill when at max stacks removes the lowest count stack, and adds a new one. At max stacks, enemies damaged by your abilities are dealt 35 magic damage over 3 seconds, and receive Grievous Wounds for that time. Builds from: Jaurim's Fist + Vampiric Sceptre + Executioner's Calling Gold Cost: 1200 + 900 + 800 + (800) = 3700 This item is a little massive. But it is sort of like the mejai's of tanks. It's a offensive item that allows them to be tanky if they can keep killing people. Note that it doesn't stack on assists, this is important, as this item is really promoting highly aggressive play in tanks that think they are juggernauts. It is mostly for bruisers that want damage and tank stats, but have trouble building both. However, it is a risk as it requires stacking and is very expensive. Of all the items I have made, I am most unsure of this one... See the previous post for changes made to this item.

http://media.lolusercontent.com/api/embedly/1/image/resize?url=http%3A%2F%2Fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%2Foriginals%2F38%2Fe2%2F89%2F38e289915e0990ff21ecdcfabca4481d.png Starlight Blade: +25 Attack Damage +25% Attack Speed +25% Critical Strike Chance Passive: Critical Strike bonus damage is increased by 25% Builds from: 2 Daggers + 2 Brawler's Gloves + Pickaxe Gold Cost: 300 x 2 + 400 x 2 + 875 + (475) = 2750 This item is supposed to be a cheaper alternative to Infinity Edge for heavy attack speed champions. It isn't the most gold efficient but it lends a lot of general stats that aren't usually compiled into a single item. The passive is also purposely stackable. So if you just wanted to purchase an IE and 4 of these it would give you 165 bonus AD, +100% As, +120% Crit Chance--more than necessary, and +150% bonus damage on crits. Or all auto attacks, since you have 120% crit chance. Which is a little ridiculous, but then you would lose out on other item passives and actives. Note: I assume you're getting boots.

Well, that's all for now! I may or may not post any more on this subject, but in the meantime, please post your thoughts, critiques, art, or item ideas for discussion.

Thank you for reading!

I like these items. The void dagger could use some cleanup on it's tooltip, as it seems a bit ambiguous.

Emberstave would be a nice way to counter assassins. I would dare them to jump me with that and a zhonyas. Burning gold statue if i manage to get three spells off. Kassadin would love it too.

I don't get why other players don't comment on these threads. If they get popular enough, riot devs will potentially see them, and if enough noise is made, they may use the concept and tune it for the game. Guess it's just wishful thinking there.

Thanks for the comment! Is there anything specifically you are confused about with Dagger of the Void? The "20% bonus damage" is 20% of the damage you already dealt, dealt again as the opposite type of damage. This damage and the damage you originally dealt both ignore 20% of the target's armor and MR.

Emberstave is sort of a fusion of defense and offense, most champions would have trouble using it offensively, but as you said, when an assassin is stuck to you, that extra damage could be essential in surviving the encounter.

Guess it makes sense when you put it that way. Don't really have much of a suggestion for tooltip cleanup. Still, great work.

The ring seems perfect for Morde while I can see Jhin and Yasuo with that sword :P

Oh wow. I hadn't even thought of Mordekaiser. Yeah, that could work. It's not too expensive either, so it could be bought as support.

I think Jhin would probably be better with higher stat items, but if he built Starlight Blade and Infinity Edge it might be worth it. Yasuo would be OP with Starlight Blade. But then, he's OP with just about every crit item.

You basically replace the spellvamp item with that ring and have a really though outlaster xD

I don't think that Starlight Sword and IE should stack passives and that brings a huge waste building them both. Jhin wants a crit/AS item because of his passives, the item passive is just a bonus and current ones (SS and RF) are interchangeable.

Hm... you don't think Starlight Blade's passive should stack with IE's? My gut says that would make the item nearly worthless. Of course, it could be its own unique passive that stacks with IE but not itself... Statistically though, if its passive weren't so useful, it would be worse than SS and RF, for about the same price. It would synergize well with both, but that's about the limit of its usefulness if it didn't stack with IE.

Then again, it's a lot cheaper, and gives bonus attack speed. It would just be a much more niche item. Most ADCs would go with IE, and some, like Vayne, would go with Starlight Blade. That could work.

I didn't do much thinking it's just that it would seem strange for 2 identical passives to stack.

Not quite identical, Starlight Blade is half as powerful as IE. (25% vs 50%) However, it might be a good idea not to let Starlight Blade stack with itself.

Alright, I did some math.... And Starlight Blade shouldn't be able to stack with itself.

No AP + CDR + Mana Regen + Armor item? downvotedownvotedownvote

Nah but really, I was expecting a bunch of broken AP mage items but these are actually pretty cool.

Thanks! I actually had an idea for a mage-tank item that gave bonus AP equal to a percentage of your bonus armor, and it did have CDR, but it wasn't high on my priority list. Emberstave seemed like the best figurehead for my issues with mages.

Mana regen wasn't on my radar at all because I think League already has a lot of really good mana items.
