Im sure the ultimate itself hit only GP, but then exploded and also hit others in range.

His ult explodes when it hits a target...

The ult explodes when it hits someone, sending a shower of basic attacks down to every champion nearby. The area is indicated by Elune, and you can see the autos coming down.

Buy Ninja Tabis against Aphelios. Not only does it reduce the damage from his autoattacks, it reduces:

  • The follow-up auto from his ult
  • The follow-up auto from Calibrum Q
  • Every auto from Severum Q
  • The follow-up auto from Infernum Q
  • The bonus damage from Crescendum copies

A tank that can build Thornmail, Randuin's Omen, and Ninja Tabis takes negative damage from Aphelios.

ACTIVE: Aphelios casts forth a lunar spotlight that stops upon illuminating an enemy champion. Alune smites the area centered on the illuminated enemy, dealing 125 / 175 / 225 (based on level) (+ 20% bonus AD) (+ 100% AP) and locking-on to each enemy hit.

It's an AoE.
