Varus; Small Gameplay Update

Okay so Varus is a cool dude, a longer than average range marksman, megaman Q with the Piercing Arrow, Blight, and of course worms and hentai with his ultimate. You can think of this a little bit like an Ashe change, where one of his current spells becomes combined to give him three spells and an ultimate plus for Varus' case a passive that he can actually use and is useful.

Basic Attack Range: 575 units [unchanged, its for context]

Blighted Quiver (Passive): Passive Ranks: @levels 1/5/9/13/17 Varus deals 10(+1 per champion level)(+25%AP) bonus magic damage on-hit.

Varus' basic attacks also apply stacks of Blight for 6 seconds stacking up to 3 times which each Blight stack deals 1/2/3/4/5%(+1% per 50AP) of the target's maximum health as bonus magic damage. Blight detonates from Varus' damaging spells on the affected targets.

Living Vengeance (W): Cooldown: 16 seconds; Cost: 35 Mana; Aura Range: 1000 units Passive: Whenever an ally or enemy champion or structure dies near Varus he then gains 95(+10 per champion level) units as bonus range to his basic attacks for the next 6 seconds.

Active: Varus becomes furious granting himself 40/70/100/130/160% bonus attack speed for the next 3 seconds which this duration extends by 1 second for every time Varus kills an unfriendly unit up to a cap of 7 total seconds.

To clarify, only changes I done were to his Passive and W. So the passive I made to the new Living Vengeance is in a way similar to a Jinx passive, just instead of movement speed Varus gains an absurd amount of range (850 at level 18) to clean up kills like a reset champion, but without the mobility. I wanted to keep/have a reset mechanic onto Varus, but one that was actually useful rather than a trash attack speed buff that he couldn't even use when he gets it, plus it goes with his theme to get stronger in some way when things die around him.

Hope you appreciate the idea! ~ Stacona

I would like his q to count as a basic attack which I mean why not . with that it would be for tri force purposes and if they did just that he would be really strong

his q already chunks people for half there hp no need

His Q is fine right now, it is a super powerful spell, can be really good poke or waveclear, or bursting people with it --- also it makes no sense to be a basic attack or act like one

It actually makes perfect sense it would make his teamfighring better and I said basic attack so it would work with tri force .

That is just applying on-hit effects, Varus already has really good teamfighting - there are two majour builds for him, AD caster mana, flat AD, and CDR OR standard infinity edge, statikk shiv, last whisper, bloodthirster

you can play him primarily spell caster or on-hit basic attacker; the builds and playstyles go hand in hand

The range increase is EXTREMELY massive. For comparison, at level 18 that gives him 850 range which is equal to Twitch's with his ult up and outranges turrets. I don't think an increase that large should be added to any champion as a passive effect.

I know- but it is a reset mechanic even though it can proc off your own team dying which is not the ideal way that you want to use it.

There is absolutely no scenario where you can siege with this effect , it is a limited duration buff that you cannot control - Also glad you have to point out the range at level 18 , because there was definitely no where listed at all of the level 18 range already, nope

But the point to the effect is a clean-up reset mechanic with the utility of the range kind of like Jinx passive, just with range rather than mobility to keep Varus immobile with a reset mechanic that is useful for an immobile marksman --- after the fight as already won he cannot use his current attack speed reset passive because everyone is trying to run away and Varus already used his ultimate and needed the attack speed at the start of the fight and not after the fight is already over

Turrets have like 900 range, so no it does not out range the turrets, baron siege minions are 950 range; besides it is irrelevant anyways because to get massive range for 6 seconds you have to already win the teamfight which means no one is by the turret to defend it so the bonus range is redundant in terms of taking turrets, the attack speed steroid however is very useful for his blight synergy and taking turrets

Varus is good in sieges in terms of his slightly longer 575 range and ability to poke and waveclear with Q

Varus imo just needs a new passive. It is kinda useful at times for sure... But sometimes its just useless

His e could be a bit faster tho. Sometimes its a bitch to hit with.

Idk, varus is still a fine ADC. I don't see why so many think he's the worst ADC in the game. He can't carry like jinx but he's not that type of adc anyway

His E is super easy to land, also is a zoning slow- spell is fine, most of his kit is fine, i just change the spells that needed adjustments

So I swapped his W and Passive around and gave him a reset mechanic that is useful for an immobile utility marksman without giving him mobility which is a sht ton of range- and the active is now a controllable attack speed steroid so you can use it at the start of the fight, but is a very short duration unless you get last hits with it so it has synergy with its own passive and his new passive which is Blight [not a new spell, but did get toned down until late game for being a passive rather than an actual spell that you rank up]

In short, Varus now has a useful passive and another active and a useful reset mechanic than his current one for an immobile utility marksman [not quite Ashe extreme utility, but he still has it] --- also it remains as Q E and R are the only ones that can proc blight so that does not change either

I have a feeling you never read the post at all, because I didn't change Varus much at all just made his current passive an actual spell to let him control his attack speed steroid and have an useful reset mechanic for him than a crappy attack speed steroid; and blight is already a passive that procs off his damage spells so nothing is different there just weaker early game until level 17+ to make up for it becoming his actual passive

I read your post. Granted in at work and slightly preoccupied.

Attack range increase would be a good call. Seeing as so he's so god dam immobile with little to no cc (like ahses very reliable slows) it would be nice if he had some range to compensate. I'm not 100% on this, but u believe in his lore he was a sniper of sorts. Which explains q range being high at least. But yea, if he had some range buff in some way that'd be great.

Off topic a bit. Adressimg his w. While it is good for the % hp damage, I almost feel as though I'm wasting item potential because...3 as Capps blight stacks. So would it not be better to asa less then q or e as often as possible to get the most damage, or is perfectly acceptable to just aa and q as an execute.

The flat damage is just on-hit, the % damage is reliant on your cooldowns - attack speed synergizes with both aspects---

For the reset mechanic basic attack super range it is more complex than simply just that since it can proc off your own team dying around you [slight lore based coming into gameplay] - so what this means is that it can function as a reset clean-up, but can also have revenge kills and turning around a losing fight in your favour or have a better time trading 1 for 1 when Varus is not the victim

i think of Varus as more of a scaling marksman, so my ideas are trying to lean to that side of things

His passive is worthless sure I mean in a solo lane split pushing the little bit of attack speed is okay . maybe how trust is would be cool like you kill some many minions to gain up to a permanent attack speed buff
