A Better Leaver Buster
Think dodge penalty, but more extreme to discourage leaving and is an instant [automatic] thing that resets daily just like dodge penalties reset daily.
So an immediate effect that resets every day is better because players who DC are not the one's being punished, just the ones who actually leave are. So this new idea system will only directly affect the guilty and the innocent are not getting punished. To add on if you keep trying to play when there are outside factors preventing you from actually playing the game this system also prevents you to keep playing more games in this scenario as well.
So example of what I am thinking is, and all timers will begin immediately AFTER the game is fully finished:
Case #1: 1st Leaver Penalty for the day is 30 minutes 2nd Leaver Penalty for the day is 60 minutes 3rd Leaver Penalty for the rest of the day you cannot play a match-made game with a minimum of 12 hours
IF Case #1 is too forgiving with a 3 strikes you are out for playing that day then Case #2 will be the system:
Case #2: 1st Leaver Penalty for the day 30 minutes 2nd Leaver Penalty for the rest of the day you cannot play a match-made game with a minimum of 8 hours
Now none of these are bans, they are just severe timer penalties, so you can still explore and do things in the PVP.net client and all that, just cannot play match-made games until your Leaver Penalty timer is up. Minimum hours is so one does not get the most severe penalty at 11:58 p.m. and then wait 3 minutes and they can play again, this will prevent those exploit cases.
So meanwhile having a system that does not punish immediately and when it does punish has its so purpose to annoy the player to make him frustrated and create a very unhealthy atmosphere in the following game which will spread like the plague. Meanwhile a more severe Dodge Penalty mechanic is better since it grants immediate and at the moment consequences which means players are less likely to intentionally leave games; and in the case of disconnects they will either not feel an impact [because they are not the problematic that makes games un-enjoyable] as well as prevent them from keep playing for that day if they are having something like internet issues and allows them to focus on trying or waiting for the issue to be fixed rather than keep on playing games for that day.
