@Riot You're not going to have anyone to watch Worlds if you have no more players.

Maybe you should stop gutting peoples' champions to make #LC$BIGPLAYZZZZ more exciting. Maybe you should stop making all these awful balance decisions 100% based around proplay. Because guess what? You can try to make LCS as exciting as you possibly can but still nobody is going to watch it if there are no players.

Lets be honest. LoL has peaked and is falling off now. I doubt we will ever see the day where LoL outright dies, but its on the decline for sure. I'm sure LoL will still be around in a similar manner as WoW is. You've made too many decisions that shafted your actual players. Enforced miserable metas that everyone despised. Gutted champ after champ 100% based on them seeing the LCS stage while other BIGPLAYZZZZ makers get a pass. There has been a refusal to listen to feedback. I am well aware that not everything that is flavor of the month to complain about is actually a good idea, but you cant just ignore them all because of some bad apples.

This is on top of the scandals of the past month where you have chosen to promote a sexist environment against your female employees and responded with sexism against your male players. The game has become a toxic cesspool as people become increasingly more and more dissatisfied with the state of the game. Soft inting still goes unpunished. Any toxicity that isnt in chat short of buying 5 tears and actually running it down mid still goes unpunished. Meanwhile someone is risking their account by snapping at inters even though they've played hundreds or thousands of games. Your own employees aren't even held to the same Summoner Code you demand of your players anymore.

The game has become stale. If we're being 100% honest, a good chunk of this is just due to fatigue. LoL is almost a decade old now. Games are decided too early and forced into a fast and furious playstyle. Traditionally late game champs cannot exist anymore without some sort of early game buff to keep them relevant, defeating the playstyle of late game champs altogether. Games like PUBG, Overwatch, Fortnite, etc have been slowly chipping away at your numbers as unsatisfied players are looking for something new to fill the void.

You don't communicate with us anymore. I'm aware that the subreddit and this board can be like a minefield sometimes but that doesnt mean you can just ignore us. You've lost your player's affection and respect as you've grown. You've went from a company that would communicate what was going on even if it meant being disagreed with sometimes to a generic, stoic big box company with no soul. You send secret messages to your employees that forbid them from talking about certain subjects with us. You let employees hurl insults at the community as a whole. You would rather just let things blow over than attempt to defend your actions.

Its a shame. I have been playing since the beginning of season 3. I have 2200 hours played and $1200 invested and I just cant be bothered to log in anymore. The magic of the game is gone for me. I used to log in every weekend to play with my irl friends. We used to have to play with 2 teams because there were too many of us. Now, not a SINGLE one of them plays the game anymore. I dont even recognize 90% of the people on my friends list anymore.

Tl;dr

Way too many decisions that have been harmful to the playerbase have been favored just for LCS. Toxicity is rampant as people become increasingly more dissatisfied with the game and while being too easy to evade bans. The company has lost its soul as it has grown. Rioters are not held to the same summoner code we are at all. The magic is gone.

It could be, but I think we we all rather have the issues resolved without it having to come to that tbh

Thing is. It probably will.

Lol is taking the same course as sc2. Alienating the playerbase in favor of pro play. The playerbase leaves, the game dies and with it the pro scene

To all their own choices.

But I'm a player. That tells you someone will be watching Worlds no matter the tough times.

Eedat7 votes

I'm well aware that there will alays be viewers and like I said, "I doubt we will ever see a day where LoL outright dies", but you also cant deny the fact that LCS viewership has been on a massive decline. Less viewers equal less ad revenue, less sponsorships, less merchandise, etc. The only real way to get through to comapnies anymore is with money, or lack there of. Its kind of a double edged sword. I'm kind of torn between supporting a lot of the streamers and pro players I've enjoyed through the years and not watching to demonstrate my disapproval of the state of the game and Riot themselves

GeminiRune3 votes

You do have a point on that. Then again where I am coming from is a background of watching competitive scenes that are more of existing as long as they have fans and a heartbeat of a community; fighting games in particular. Translating that to mainstream titles with competitive scenes, in my eyes the ideal of some ever increasing and consistent viewership doesn't matter to me just like that of the value of ad revenue, sponsors, forcing money and game direction, and so on. Every game eventually trickles down the viewership line over the next thing but as long as there's a passionate community and the company hasn't burned all their bridges, I just don't see a problem. This scene already has too many opinions as is. I'm just another oddball one.

who gives a shit? Are you diamond 1? Do you even recognize what it is you're watching?

You came to boards to try to influence other people not to play because you are having a bad time, good for you. That's not a piece of shit thing to do at all.

Why can't you just quit in peace? Why do you have to basically suicide bomb concepts you disagree with? This is a place to discuss the game, if you quit, then cya, nothing left to discuss.

Im diamond2 toplane i watching worlds is such a waste of time played this game since season2 why should i watch worlds when player skill is a secondary thing lol id watch it if skills was actually important like the previous season not about what champions few 2 champions is favor in the meta lol so obvious faker cant do shit because skill is not priority in this game anymore if it was he would be at his peak and i would enjoy watching him play and KHAN too like it so sad that i hardly see him play jax or jayce anymore because this shitty meta you think i would want to watch him play POPPY? oh wow nice skill lol

yeah i stopped watching pro play active a while back... i join in from time to time and i somEtimes watch the highlights from people like synapse

but im not going to wait though the game...

damage is still so freaking high no one is willing to actually engage for TRADES anymore. if people go in it means one of them dies or is forced to back... so they play safe all game.

i loved in season 3 and 4 and even early 5 where there was trading you coudl go in deal damage and get out... ther was a lot more fighting and fun stuff to watch

even the team-fights lasted like 4x as long

now its just the pro being too fucking scared to ever going in unless the opportunity is perfect because 1 misstep can get u one shot.

the removal of sightstone and trackers knife made this EVEN WORSE. they barely leave the safety of their own tower and even that's not safe anymore...

there is no "enjoyment" of watching people get 1 shot.. i want to watch people TRADE i want to watch OUTPLAYS.. champs that take skill and SHOW skill, chaps were i can see X person clearly beat Y person because they were better. and that inspires me to get better.

not " oh Zoe 1 shot someone from 2 screen away.

or Chogath summoner 4 item 3193 ulti

its BORING to watch now..

damage need to be LOWERED so people are actually WILLING to fight.

and guess what that does... IT FIXES NON PRO-PLAY TOO!!! WHAT A FUCKING THOUGHT!!!

And that's fine. But as is the case with everything in life, not everyone is gonna follow in your footsteps. I really doubt you downvoted that guy, but it's depressing that others did, the echo chamber on the boards is real sad to see. I hope the game state improves soon, for all of our sakes. Nobody likes seeing a game they love turn so sour. For what it's worth, I probably won't watch worlds this year, either.

I like the competition.

I too, love watching LCK Autumn finals.

GeminiRune2 votes

So nothing else matters?

Okay then.

2Charmnot2Charm1 votes

Only other region that matters competitively is China, but they always choke at worlds anyways.

GeminiRune1 votes

Oh no. Suddenly this year they matter because one team broke the mold. To me everyone who makes it matters; I'm willing to give every team due respect to the present and not base my judgments off of the past. It's easy to be pessimistic.

2Charmnot2Charm1 votes

not base my judgments off of the past.

What makes you think I only judge from the past? I also check splits/finals from NA to see if they improve only to be heavily disappointed. I watch pro games to see great games from the best players on top of the ladder, not to see jokers paid to play a low diamond solo q game on stage cause that's how NA feels like every damn game. They make too many low elo mistakes for players that are supposedly Challenger and I seen better Marco in mine and streamers solo q games.

The only "Pro" thing about NA is that they are getting paid, that's it. Here's my favorite play from one of NA's best top laners last year Hauntzer https://clips.twitch.tv/WittyHedonisticCookieFUNgineer . Common sense to anyone that plays Nautilus would tell you it's a bad idea to throw his hook at someone that has flash up AND have a wall right behind them that would drag you into the tower, but behold NA's top player is on stage making a mistake you expect to see someone from silver elo to do. This all could have been prevented if he threw the hook way before Gragas got closed to the wall to force the flash without burning his own but it's alright he has the "pro" tag to hide behind so casual players won't question anything he does xD.

Then there is the NA pro's attitude problems coaches have to deal with but I'm not going there. Pros will get the respect they deserve when they earn it and all of NA (Excluding doublelift and the koreans that play in NA even though they are there for money) deserve non of it.

GeminiRune1 votes

That's the thing. Lackluster play is going to happen everywhere. Yet you still see fans presently tooting the horns of struggling favorite teams the moment they even get a convincing win.

I don't want to use "last year" as fact other than that of presence. A lot of people just check the results and tend to base off of that. Or they'll funnel in on one or two plays that indicate poor performance and depending on the region, its either a slap on the wrist or being put six feet under. Hell you just did that and I'm more than certain I can pick out a worse microplay in another major region. In a NA or EU scenario, it's as if form is all but a low bearing expectation and that doesn't feel right to me.

Yeah factors such as passion and degree of play and the lack thereof play a part as well which have absolutely done wonders of negative light in the past. If it were you, would money determine your passion to play or would you want to show it like you know it?

I'm just not going to keep fixing my mind on that stuff and thinking that I know what's going to happen in October months ahead of time; eluding back to the comment above in those who will just blowout "LCK Autumn Finals" because of past years like it's inevitable. I rather just see it at face using the near recency of those who have reached the event. If they're right though, that's fine; I can admit I'm wrong but hey I had fun with predicting and believing. I don't really care about being right; just having fun with it.

I reply to the title, not the body, which is understandable to be downvoted for.

But to cause such a riot over particular nerfs of champions who people may not even really main their hearts to and such. Everyone is wanting to pick as much of a fight as possible. I just don't really care. I want to play and laugh with the game. I want to watch and analyze the competitive scene. To be downvoted for that is no skin off my nose. But who cares what I think? I'm not part of the boycott.

Id say watching Fizz vs Zed has more LC$playz potential than watching one random mage spam wave clear from a save position vs another mage doing the same thing

so the question is, why has riot kept this meta in pro play for the past like 2-3 years? [zombie-nunu-bummed]

deadlychuck3 votes

The misconception is that they want those LCS plays in the LCS. Really the whole assassin class has been warped into the ingame version of LCS big plays. Which really just means a lot of defensive handicaps and stacking damage on a champion, but w/e. They can kill their game with attack damage AP if they want.

LeeSin Is a lot more of an LC$bigplay than an assassin, I mean, most assassins just do one very linear thing. Not exactly Lc$ b1gpay to use my W R QE AA as a Zed and even a lot more boring to watch a Fish from Disney go into invincibility, flop down in a very expected manner and then QW out for a kill.

koochario7 votes

The problem you don't grasp is that balancing outside of pro play and Diamond+ (which btw Riot DOES do) simply butchers the game most times. The reason is that you're balancing around incorrect play and usage of champions so it becomes pretty pointless and actually makes balance objectively worse. Imagine if hypothetically, no one dodged Xerath's abilities and then you nerf Xerath in the gutter because of it. How logical would that be?

Cavesloth2 votes

True, but that doesn't mean they should try to balance low elo at all and it should just be ignored since 99% of the playerbase is there. They can do both, they are just too lazy or elitist to be bothered with it.

Galiö4 votes

This isnt exactly true. Most of my freinds quit but I still have a few freinds that watch.

I know a ton of people myself included who no longer play dota but still watch TI. No reason why riot cannot do the same with worlds. If they can't win back the playerbase like you claim, why not win back the viewerbase like dota has proven a moba an do? Pro play isn't even the reason the game balance sucks, most of that is due to changes aimed at casual players at the expense of pro play.

wtf are u talking about rito does what rito wanna do nobody gives a damn about us its all about pros and money into rp for skins look what they did to the whole game they made chests so players will gamble for skins and so on more rp every dying game company do that to soak up whateva they can i disslike the game now as a whole and . its not becouse the comunnity but becouse of what the game has become leveling system be system rune system the champion changes the towers fk man its not league of legends anymore seems like they sell the game to some greedy company that dont give a damn about the players but the funniest thing in ritos eyes the game is BALLANCED ... Yea ballanced af we got no fun of loosing and no fun of winning even the price of winning is 0 now just a bit of exp to get some stupid chest after u level up after 300 games very good rito very good job ![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Stick it to 'em! I'm still upset that they gutted Kench with practically no compensation when he was already weak. It's even worse that now they are acting like the hard nerfs he received did not affect him much at all and are saying he probably won't be revisited for buffs. He's not even a high skill cap champion, so idk why Riot keeps kicking him when god forbid Tahm gets anywhere near a 48% win rate.

ItzModsy2 votes

They're telling themselves they don't need NA anymore, and they're kind of right since a good majority of their income comes from the east anyways, but once they implement their identity politics within all their offices and spread the Daniel Klein classic "men are no longer welcome in gaming anymore" around, they'll soon be asking where all their players went. Every game has a timer, Minecraft and CS:GO sure hit theirs already. But Riot is making it a priority to constantly throw that timer onto the ground and stomp on it.

Light of Madness2 votes

I left level up games because I hated them and when I started LoL and saw the riot I was like.. omg I love this company and the game is fun. And now.... will try the indies games of steam, riot was good when was good.

Light of Madness2 votes

Do you the riot problem? Is like a government that says "Hey you cannot do that in your business! Here is the right price!"

Why not create something on the begin of the year, and during the year just fix bugs, put skins, some modes and collect player suggestions for the next season and keep testing on the pbe the champs for the NEXT SEASON, try metas and all that kind of stuff.

After the season starts (after a good test and balance and the new champs ) YOU LEAVE THE GAME... people will adapt, if the game has a good balance people will realize what is good against what like a simple rock scissor and paper the meta will be a chess game and ALL OF THIS TOGETHER will make good LC$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ games, do you think coaches will not think... hey they are getting this... ok leave it we can do that as a surprise... O GUESS WHAT A NEW META FOR PRO PLAYERS. And at the same time the meta on ranked will just grown because people will watch and learn the picks, maybe some solo player can think something that no pro team thought.

Do you know how you do that? Yes... good balance and let the "market" decide let the "market" make all the combinations of champions and ITENS. Stop changing all the time or nobody will care and just pick what is strong without thinking why, just because THE BALANCE IS A SHIT AND YOU KEEP MAKING SHIT TRYING TO BE "GOD" TO DECIDE HOW IS GOING TO BE.

My playstyle as a vision oriented jungler basically died with the removal of Tracker's Knife.

Fuck the LCS balancing.

IainG102 votes

Gonna be honest here; bad balance is more likely to drive me away from your game than bad watchability, and I spend far more on games than I would generate as an ad-viewer.... And there is no way anyone can say what was just dropped on Sejuani or Tahm Kench was done for game health, nor the continued buffs of Lee Sin or the constant state of Assassins; it's all for #dembigplays. I understand not balancing around people who can't dodge, or facecheck bushes, or refuse to build tank when they lose lane on a juggernaut, but there comes a point where somethinng is just oppressive to the point it has to be removed, like Wukong when he was oneshotting carries from stealth without even a warning he's there like Pyke has.

Just got a 14 day ban, not a chat ban, a normal ban.. (never had a chat ban). Because I got pissed off that someone was literally trolling me ingame. He'd go in for a gank 2v1, then abandon me. Or more, I'd go in seeing him right there at the brush, he'd walk forward, then walk away again.. He'd use his ult to fuck with me, and was literally doing everything in the book to troll me in ways that can't be detected.

Then he and his 3 friends that game decided to start talking crap, and make up some make believe story and got 3 other people on the enemy team to report me.. For literally doing nothing but getting pissed off he was trolling me so hard.

Only times I ever run my mouth is people who legit deserve it, who afk, troll, int, or tilt at 5 minutes and go on a whining spree like they're trying to beat the world record of the biggest baby, and throwing the game.

Why do I get so upset? because I care about the time being wasted for me and my teammates. I care about the current game I'm in (I play to play, not to fuck around and screw with people. If I'm not doing my very best, I feel bad for letting my team down, and I expect no less from others).

But.... no its me who gets banned, not them.
