Honestly if you only play one champ you don't really need the boxes to begin with since its highly unlikely you will actually get something useful. Any champion shard is useless to you, any skin shard except for Lulu skins that you don't have (if you don't have them all) are useless. I guess aside from gemstones or Hextech Annie/Soulstealer Vayne shards and Lulu stuff there's nothing you could get, and even then theres a tiny chance of you getting those.
I want those keys.
Real bad.
I currently have 42 keys. You can have them if you want
...HOW?!?
Play only a few champions or only one role. Then you'll understand.
How little is your club :3

How little is your club :3
3 lulus and 2 veigars
Is that a short joke?
Then you should play more champs lol.
The good thing about your situation is you dont even have to be good to get the chests.
If you play in a premade and someone in your premade gets a S grade......for some crazy reason Riot thinks you deserve a chest for them doing good. That is how I got my chest for Poppy.
So far I have gotten 16 chests.....the only one i didnt earn was Poppy. When i see the gold border on her in my champions page I look at her like you would someone who is around you that you dont want around you. I dont like i got a chest on her from someone else in a premade getting a S. I dont even play poppy and i dont even usually play premade. But someone wanted to and then they didnt accept the trade in time in champ select so i was stuck with her......luckily they popped off in game and we won and i got a free S chest.
When I got an S-chest as Yasuo (and mind you I'm a terrible player and I was playing him because I unlocked the project yasuo skin off mystery skins)
I had a hecarim that basically ganked and 100-10 my opposing mid laner like 5 times letting me clean up that remaining 10 percent (why he chose camp mid when I was the silver border teammate versus the other lanes which had gold bordered players was beyond me, especially when I failed to ult off his devastating charge's twice in a row and had very low CS due to my passive/cautious playstyle; perhaps the enemy laner just happened to be really easy to gank) but I ended up getting somewhat what fed off his help and had plenty of room to free farm without interference. Of course I still made really bad silver "idunnowhatImdoing" plays (cause I'm inherently trash at anything but support relative to everyone else at my normals MMR). In one instance, I managed land a tornado on the enemy vayne who was at 30% health, ult her, q her, then dash through her which put me over a wall and left her with 1 hp and a look of confusion. Seconds later I noticed my ignite was off cooldown the whole time. I think the one thing I did well, was I roamed to the side lanes to gank low health enemy champions with my most successful one being a clean double kill. (Except I stopped doing that after that one time I went up to Illaoi and she ulted me and I nearly died and burned flash) But I digress, the gist of the story is basically that I did really well in the damage/gold earned department (despite my awful mechanics and very passive/cowardly playstyle) because my jungler did everything else to pad my lane out and make sure I wasn't going 0/5 by 10 minutes
So I guess the crazy reason with why you would get an S rank off your teammates success, is maybe you might have setup one of your premade teammates for that success, and so therefore you should be awarded for being a good support to your friends.
I understand what you are saying. And that would make sense. If the system tracked how much impact you had in helping a member of your premade achieve his/her S grade then ok, you get a chest too. But the way the system is set up right now, you can literally afk in your base and do nothing but move around so you dont get disconnected. And if someone in your premade gets a S, you will get a chest for your champ.
Ooh, I can help with this one!
Play some other champs.
buy chest thats way rito make them in the first place to get your money.
Heaven forbid a company actually pay their employees and for equipment and services....
You make it sound like the developer of the most popular PC game in the world is hurting for cash [zombie-nunu-bummed]
If you look at it like that, yea. But at the same time... Would they be the developer of the world's most popular PC game if they DIDN'T have an income? What point do we stop that income? Just limit it to what we are putting into it right now? Then there's no room for growth. Some needs to be put into current expenses, future expenses, paying interest on loans (100% possible, even companies with large cash flows will use loans because it can take something expensive and spread out the payments on it, resulting in that (part of) large cash flow), and even putting money into repair and maintenance (this is separate cost than upgrades) and of course they need to pay the employees and the investors.
The last part is where people get really damn pissy. See, the investors only care to make money off it, but that's actually pretty deserved because if the company needs cash or is not at a point of growth then the investors supply the money. Do you really think people just say "Oh yea, here's $50,000,000 you can just pay it back... whenever, no interest or anything, no stake in your company, nothing, just $50,000,000 that you can pay off whenever." Do the investors get greedy sometimes? Sure, but it's that income for them that allows them to invest more which allows for more companies to grow and gives the investor more money. Both sides benefit from the transaction, we can't ignore the fact that Riot does benefit from that investment.
Now more on point... Yes they have an income. A company NEEDS an income. Do YOU really want to spend 60 hours a week developing a game just for people to say "You're a greedy bastard, give it to me free Rito!" Of course not, but you expect all sorts of people to do it.
I've paid for my share of RP, but look at this: If I buy a game Super Franchise Series 2, that has 60 hours of gameplay for the story and 120 hours with side quests and missions. Now if I buy that game I am paying let's say $60 (it's a super franchise game, of course). That means I am paying $1/hour for the base game and $2/hour for the everything. I've racked up a few hundred games on League, and let's take a conservative estimate of 30 minutes a game (some ended at 20 others went an hour) and let's say 200 games (I am past that). So that's 100 hour of gameplay, and I can accomplish all of that with $0/hour and 0 advertisements. That's what free to play means, it's free. This game is truly free to play, you can access 100% of the base game without a single dime spent (although it does take time).
So yea, let's just bitch about the fact that a company with a game that can easily provide 10x the entertainment time of a typical PC or Console game for precisely 0% of the cost trying to have an income. I don't care if the income is high: they use it well. The employees seem to be happy and I read that they also subsidize the salary for Pro players (which my understanding means they pay part of the salary so the player's income is at least partially guaranteed because sponsorship deals can change and may not be enough).
But yea, let's just stop buying RP.
Riot is owned by China. By buying RP you are supporting China and thereby communism. So no I will never buy RP nor will I ever buy plates, electronics or anything made by communists so see you in 3 years when I'm on TV's made by communists.
Why does a one trick need chests 99% of the stuff you get from them will be for champs you don't play
I have 6 keys and 0 chests because I can't get and damn s ranks and only A+
I'm kind of jealous that you have that many keys.
Easiest way to fix this is to play with premades and hope someone does well enough to get an S rank on a champion that you havent S ranked on.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that counts as an S-rank for the champion you are currently playing.
Unless they played a different champion for that game, they wouldn't get a chest.
You are correct Sir
Actually, I'm pretty sure that counts as an S-rank for the champion you are currently playing.
Unless they played a different champion for that game, they wouldn't get a chest.
Rip, my knowledge is flawed.
i never wasted a day in chest farming and i have 16 chests but no keys since i have no friends and the key drop solo is ridicolously low, wanna trade?
Yes please.
It is pretty easy to get chests through ARAM if you ever play it.
That's how I've unlocked a lot of mine.
Same, if you're even semi competent with a champ you can get an s easy.
Same boat, 20 keys, 0 chests. being forced to play all champions for more chests is stupid, especially for ranked.
You're not forced to, its a choice. Playing a wide range of champs is actually better for ranked. Not every champ fits all teams needs....even if u are a very good 1 trick.
hey uh, guys. this is quite literally one of the main points of the system. It's to make you try new champs. That's the point.
that's cool but some of us got chests on our primary champs a long time ago and because the reset takes forever we're just screwed. I play a couple of champs in normals or whatever but not nearly as often as I play support(s) for my team, and implying that it's as simple as just "playing other champs" is kinda ignorant. Not everyone wants to play every role and the system clearly doesn't benefit people who specialize in one champ or even one role at all... Like, I've gotten 90% of the support chests I can get and I got them within 3 weeks of the system dropping, and so I'm just supposed to wait a full year to get another chest in my primary role? Kappa?
-Point of a system is to encourage you to learn other champs and roles to a point where you get an S on them, therefore making you a better player
-"It's unfair that this system that was created with a certain purpose in mind doesn't throw that purpose out the window in order to give me free stuff"
Like, really. Giving you a reason to go out and learn new champions, roles, ect, is quite literally one of the main points of this system. That's what it's supposed to do. It actively gives you a reason to expand your knowledge and skillset in exchange for free stuff.
I love how upon being given a method of gaining free shit by riot people not long after start bitching cause that system is conditional.
you missed my point.
I'm totally fine with that, but why should I have to wait a full 12 months to get another chest on my primary roles? I have received chests from non-primary roles, but I am running out of those choices. This coming from someone who has been playing since season 1 and owns all of them. There are just too many champions that, for whatever reason, are not good choices for me to learn - either because they do not seem interesting to me, my internet is not good for them (110 ping is as low as it gets here, Alaskalyfe) or they do not fit my teamcomp/are not in the meta/whatever.
I'm totally fine with choosing other champs. I just think that instead of everyone getting their reset at the start of each new season, it should be -x- amount of time from when you get the chest, so the fact that I got Janna's chest day 1 doesn't remove me from getting her chest for 12 damn months, whereas anything closer to the end of the season will get refreshed in weeks/days/or A month at worst.
It seems I did. Fair enough.
There's plenty of reasons as to why that may be the case. It could be intentionally designed to discourage people sitting on one champion and relying on them for a steady income of chests. It could simply be set up to align with the cycle of seasons, as let's face it, setting it all up as a giant one-hit reset button for every player on the planet is a much easier and simpler way of handling it, and is also more efficient, as less data has to be managed in that instance, than what would be if a reset system dependent on date and time would require. There's a lot of possible reasons behind it, not all of which will likely be visible to those outside the system.
seems to me it's probably just an oversight. It's a newish system that is attached to another newish system (mastery and crafting) so there are certain to be pain points - but I feel that this particular point kind of unfairly penalizes people with smaller champion pools, and the attachment to the ranked season is mostly arbitrary (especially since you can get chests outside of ranked...)
My hope is that in the future resets will happen at different times/in a different way, because currently I feel like there are some people who unfairly benefit (people who have been playing long enough to own all the champs, for example) and people who are unfairly penalized (people who play smaller pools of champs/haven't been playing long enough to own a lot of champs).
I have it the other way around. There's always at least one chest sitting in my inventory as I struggle to farm for keys.
#FeelsBadMan
My suggestion if you want to get lots of boxes is just spam ARAM. It forces you to play champions you never play so you get to try out new things and as an added bonus if you do well you get a chest!
Champ name here, with a slightly different perspective. As others have said, chests won't be of much use to you anyway, and for exactly the same reason you're not earning any.
But if you wanna earn some chests, should be fairly easy. I'm assuming you main Lulu on support, right? Just pick some bullshit champion on support and it should be fairly easy to earn a chest with them. Once you do, you never have to play them again. Just today I earned a chest that just got refreshed... on - -support Riven- -. I'm not even a good Riven, can't q-cancel worth shit, but since I was playing her on support, easy S.
This way I've earned every chest that has ever been available to me since Hextech started. Always starved for keys, tho. [zombie-nunu-tears]
Can I join your club? I promise I'll try to play yordles only :3
