I think banrates are a bigger indication if a champ is OP, in general

If a champ is good, people are going to play it even if its boring to play. That's just how people on league are. It's fun to win, regardless of how you do it. Look at some dumb strats like int Sion, I can't imagine how that's fun but if it wins games, people will do it to finally get that gold skin or whatever.

If people play good champs, and thus people lose to that champ, they will consider banning it more and more.

When I look at champs with extremely low banrates, it makes me wonder. No one ever gets smashed by this shit to the point where they consider banning it, really?

Of course generalizations are never 100% and there are counter examples, but I still think there is a stronger correlation compared to win rates.

I think pick and ban rates are more important.

Banrate in relation to playrate.

Banrate by itself means little other than public opinion/hate for a champ

Ahri for example at her height of power and hate on the boards had really high playrate and low ban rate.

Since public opinion was shes too strong but perhaps not cancer to play against

I dont ban Yasuo because I think he's op but because I dislike the fucking windwall.

Banrate only matters more on pro play. Zed or Yasuo could be trash and ppl would keep banning them.

There are plenty of exceptions to that rule.

  1. Supports/utility champions. Oftentimes they'll be busted but since they're not so in your face about it they get away with it for a while. For example, Ivern had a 56% winrate (which is insane) and nobody batted an eye.

  2. Frustrating champions. Zed is not good. Yasuo is okay. Both have sported some of the highest banrates for long periods of time.

Well you can only ban 1 champ... and the list is long long loooong. People don't always ban champs that are op, mostly they ban champs that they are bade against. In my case: Thresh, he is pure anger to me, i hate him with all my heart, but still i would ban Pyke, Talon and that inting Sion BS... but i can only ban one...
