Is op.gg bugged or is season 9 ranks realy this messed up?

Hey so ever since I found out about op.gg probably in season 4? season 5? I have always enjoyed checking throughout the season the player populations in each tier. And throughout the season as more players get placed and people have time to climb you see player % in a certain rank grow. So if you looked at like gold 5 in season 8. In April/May it may be top 35/36% of players. But by end of season in November it be like top 38-40% of players. Plat 5 was always right around top 10% of players by season end. Diamond 5 right around 2% sometimes a little higher but never top 3%.

But now.... even in April of season 9 we see a large increase in % of players for some of these ranks.

For example. Gold (now 4 instead of 5) is already top 40% of players... where in the past it would maaayyybeee reach this in November. This not a huge deal... but it is probably about 3-4% increase not to mention you removed division 5 so..... I mean hell gold 4 used to be top 25% of players lol not top 40%.

Plat 4 ALREADY TOP 14% OF PLAYERS??? What??? lol. Top 15% used to be like gold 2.....

Diamond 4.... already in APRIL is top 4% of players??? literally close to double what it used to be.

I mean.... I know you guys added grandmaster but..... lmao? Idk this seems odd.

I could be wrong but these changes in player % really bother me. I feel like match making has never been good and there has always been complaints about boosted players. But now having more % of players in this higher elos… I have to assume is going to just lead to shittier match making. Hell even in silver 1/gold4 where my mmr is at match making terrible as fuck...… Every game almost feels super fucking random lmfao.

Maybe I am missing something or their site data got fucked by your position ranks at the start of the season. But I feel this site historically has been pretty accurate and is something I have literally viewed over the last 4 years probably 5. And I have never seen this drastic of a change in this rank tier levels.

I mean it's cool bronze player population increased since silver was always like fucking 40% of players but..... wtf the point of adding iron for 3% of players???? such a fucking waste. And then when you see these results it really makes me wonder if Riot really has any idea wtf their dong lmfao. But hey I would love to know if I am viewing this wrong and have anxiety over nothing. Wish I could post historic graphs of op.gg data to show what I looked at in the past. Unfortunately I never saved screenshots and haven't been unable to find people who have when trying to google older seasons of op.gg tiers breakdown.

It would be nice if Riot just actually released the official data once in awhile..... I mean you track everything else it be nice to just see where our rank actually is on the ladder instead of having to use 3rd party sites.
