I decided to use her for the first time yesterday
After you get warmog and 3000 HP, the only way for your team to die is if you either run out of mana or the enemy team is somehow outdamaging all your heal, which happened in some matches
Does this champ require any skill whatsoever to play?
Ravenhale3 votesSoraka is ridiculously team dependent. That's not Freelo. The only thing Soraka does for her team is lower the skill required for them to carry by healing away their mistakes. I've gone on some pretty long losing streaks with Soraka and it's just a matter of being on the wrong team (aka bad luck).
I put her in the same category as Janna. These two are very solid picks but won't "carry" games via damage or picks.

She's a support. Supports are by nature team dependent. Not every support is Brand.
That doesn't begin to imply that she isn't overpowered. The same is true of Janna.
Ravenhale2 votesOh, don't get me wrong. These two are never bad picks and can be competent even with complete strangers. I think I'm sitting at 54-55% on both of them with fifty games each.
I just don't regard them as Freelo. I don't pick Soraka and think I have this game in the bag.
OhWanderer1 votesTBH LMAO RAKA IS NOT TEAM DEPENDANT. Literally won like 10 games in a row as raka just by saving my team mates from stupid decisions and baiting the enemy into them.
Edit: followed suggested build path mostly, focused on ap and sightstone item/zeaks, not warmogs.

KDA is under 2 on Soraka. So you die once for every two assists.
Only have six wins out of eight games in recent history.
You were also carried twice by a Silver 2 MF.

Oleandervine1 votesIf you're stressing the HP on her, she'll struggle elsewhere. With the change to how she recovers and heals via her little buff, she's nowhere near as potent as she used to be, and really needs the AP to do well.

Hige1 votesyou know... I'm not sure what to think of soraka currently... I've seen some VERY good sorakas, doing impressive dmg and healing quite a lot and I've had also awful sorakas who never used Q and just stood in the back...
I think that she's a better champion than before since she reward ballsy plays... that said, she might need a bit of a nerf in her cadence.

I don't think she needs any more nerfs. Her ballsy play is exactly that. She has to be at such a close range to land Q and boost her heals that any more nerfs will make her invalid. If anything, they should consider nerfing the Windspeaker mastery to take away the punch it gives her heals. I feel like that alone was the entire reason she got out of hand in the first place.
