I know it isn't supposed to be the support's job, but I've had too many games where the enemy just can outpush our team and shove wave and wave under tower instantly clearing our minions out while we can do nothing about it due to lacking wave clear.
What supports can get through laning phase and fight back against hard pushes?

Nami has the best wave clear. This is proven by the fact that her ultimate literally summons a wave.
OtterlyLost2 votesNo real support has good wave clear. They purposefully have supports have bad wave clear to prevent them from solo laning. That said, if you went someone like Zyra, Brand, Malz, etc who are not supports, they have fine wave clear as they were intended to be midlane mages.

Sgt Pepper 4202 votesAnivia is a slightly off meta support who is actually quite powerful. And once she hits 6, she can pretty well insta-clear a wave. And if you are just trying to thin a wave for a slow push before rotating back to the team, she is decent at that as well with a single Q.
Xerath is former-semi-meta and can clear much of a wave with a 2-spell combo (QW). I can usually get all casters with this combo and have all melee minions at a fraction of health. One more Q and they are gone also. The cannons can take a bit more time. So overall, Xer is decent but not great.
