@riot: i think youre going the wrong way about it with the mastery levels 6 and 7

youre trying to come up with some convoluted system (that franky doesnt even have much to do with the mastery of the chamion youre trying to get to lvl 6 and 7 anymore), to make it hard for people to achieve these new mastery levels.

my guess is youre seing the same problem with it as i do. in a couple of month after you added the new levels, people will have their champions at mastery 6 and 7 and will ask you to give them more levels.

so why arent you instead making the system open ended instead of giving it some sort of cap? there are a couple of ways to go about it. those are probably just two:

a) make mastery level 5 the maximum, and have the emote display the mastery points for the champion as a number when played. someone who has a lot of mastery points in a champion could show this off by flashing something like "600k" on top of his mastery emote, which would be pretty statisfying.

b) similar idea. remove the level cap entirely, have 1 emote for mastery level 5 and above and have the current mastery level displayed on top of the emote as a number. so flashing a mastery 5 emote would display somethign like "lvl 20" on top of it.

now that you made the resources for it, just add the mastery lvl 6 and lvl 7 emotes. maybe even go up to lvl 10 with new emotes every level. and from there on have the mastery open ended like described.

One of the issues is how little experience was actually required for Levels 6 and 7. I believe it was already coded in that the Level 6 cap was 33K and the Level 7 cap was 46.8K. With this pattern, we'd end up with a Level 8 that would hover around the 62K mark, a Level 9 at 80K and Level 10 at 100K. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of players that main one champion that have effortlessly crushed those milestones.

The experience really needed to increase more dramatically, considering I have 9 champions at the Level 6 cap with at least 3 of those at the Level 7. And I haven't broken 100 games on any champion (though I have over 90 on Leona with about 65K mastery). I know Riot was trying to avoid making the mastery system into a monotonous grind, but it seems a bit too effortless.

i dont think it needs to increase more dramatically.

like i said. just make the system open ended. if youre sitting at 4 million mastery points, you just have a very high level to show for it.

on the PBE. but its kinda stupid. like you have to get mastery rank 5 with a certain amount of champions, and get an s rank on those champions to unlock mastery rank 6 for another champion.

and you need to do something similar + blue essence to get mastery rank 7 for a champion.

Mastery Rank 5 can be accomplished going 0-30 every single game.

There is no way to determine actual player skill in this game other than the Ladder system itself.

The game to game "ratings" are fairly arbitrary.

If you say are playing Lee Sin

one game you could literally get a stomp where you barely have to try and go 15-0-12 with 150 CS in 30 minutes.

In that game you didn't do anything special, hard, or even "champion specific" but you get an S+ for that map for your stats.

The next game you could get perfect steals onto Objectives, several Q -> Ward Hop -> Kick's onto Vital targets to win team fights and go 6/4/12 but get an A.

Which game did you actually do better in? Clearly the second.

I agree that it should be changed, but the annoying thing is that it probably won't
