Elo hell doesn’t exist, stop saying your teammates hold you back

All of a sudden the boards started agreeing with the idea of “my teammates hold me back from climbing” and it’s just not true. If you’re in bronze it’s probably your fault so stop blaming your teams. No meta is gonna suddenly make it impossible for u to climb.

Elo hell does exist, and we are still in a meta where one can't carry but one can lose.

If you're not the one feeding, but someone else is, your team is holding you back. QED.

If you stayed in game, but one player disconnected and one went AFK, your team is holding you back. QED.

The thing is, if Elo Hell did exist there would be ranks where feeders and AFKs don't exist. They exist at all ranks, even in diamond+. By your argument the only way to avoid Elo Hell is to not play ranked, because the entirety of ranked is Elo Hell.

I think if players play meta champions then it's easier for players to carry. However, if players play off-meta champions where these champions are already not in a very good state, then carrying the whole team becomes a problem, and it's not a you problem, but a champion/team is bad/team comp problem. I mean if you're losing on meta champions though, then it's a you problem probably and you deserve the rank you're in. People play off-meta champs though to have fun and enjoy themselves, and I think the game has been a bit more unforgiving lately towards off-meta. Just my opinion on the matter.

There is also the problem where in lower elos, it's harder to coordinate your team. You also have to consider it's hard to coordinate your team to fight a 4/5 man turret siege. Players will be slow to react and have bad map awareness in lower elos. I think this is where a lot of the problems stem where people say they lose because of their team. If you're playing an off-meta champ, which is not in a good spot still, it'll be hard to carry a team like that probably.

I don't think playing off meta champions is a problem if you actually know how to play him/her. Or at least it can definitely get you out of bronze, silver, gold, most likely platinum as well. It's better to play what you know well how to play instead of blindly go for something just because it's meta or counter.

Pretty much this. Making good decisions is far more important than playing meta champions. Team composition only starts to matter around mid/high diamond, and that's only because everyone starts making good decisions around there.

Holy downvotes xd, guess ppl don't like to admit that they belong to the elo they are.

"The Boards" is not a singular entity. There are many different groups of people who post here, most of which disagree with one another, and most of which have disagreements within those groups. Most of the regulars around here say that Elo Hell is a mindset, so what you're noticing is just newer people posting.

True. It's not my fault my teammates suck and can't carry when i afk or int on my smurf acc to lose all 10 placements

Game 1 - Person A "accidentally" locks in Annie support. Dies twice as much as literally everyone else. Game 2 - Mid and Support didn't like that I picked Nunu jungle so they started flaming and trolling me to get me killed. Game 3 - We get a Maokai support who builds pure AP and does nothing but toss saplings into team fights then walk away. Assuming he wasn't busy being afk under tower for long stretches at a time.

So yes, your team can hold you back.

Your team can lose you few games and I think no one doubts that. But your team won't hold you out of the division and tier you belong in.

Of course they wont. My placements put me in Bronze I and I climbed all the way to Silver I. Doesn't mean it isn't irritating when you get people who flat out refuse to cooperate with you, or even actively work to sabotage their team.

Also not to say it doesn't happen to the enemy team. I had a Skarner jungle on the other side who wouldn't DC when he forgot smite and we won because of it. They were trying to do Baron so we just walked up and I took it before we killed them all.

Ok sure but why1 votes

Yes yes, five games in a row where my top laner going 0/11/2 is my fault
