How to beat "protect kogmaw" comps?

The only way I can see is to snowball so hard before 15 minutes, otherwise, kog just gets item 3124 item 3085 and starts melting entire teams while being unkillable thanks to the protection from his team. The worst part is that he only needs 2 damage items and can start building semi defensive items to make him borderline immortal. It's quite common to see a kog full build like this: item 3047 item 3124 item 3085 item 3091 item 3022 item 3026 He has like 2.8k hp, 150 armor, and 120 mr, all while outputting massive damage that is borderline bps. This isn't considering all the tanks and enchanters that you have to go through. Once kog gets 2 items, his team can just rush down mid and break all your objectives. Stalling will only it even worse as kog will hyperscale.

Usually you have to have heavy CC and burst. Someone who can disable Kog or his support and someone who can CC and burst him at the same time.

watch some of the worlds games with kog to get an idea of how to beat this i have not seen kog do good yet. he will get weaker with the ardent nerfs but shields and heals are still going to be a pain in the butt. kog deals alot of magic damage so mr items hurt him pretty bad sounds silly but actually i think malphite does pretty well here not because he scales with armor but because his engage is good to cc the kog then he can lower his attack speed and that really hurts kogmaw. kogmaw scales with attack speed and he does alot of ap damage. so anything that hits that should hurt him cc counters all champions so i don't consider that a real counter. also if you really want to make an adc mad land exhaust on them after cc.

and before someone says he shreds too much mr to build any you can always go with the alternative of item 3194 since the magic dmg on his autos all count as one source

You have to snowball. It’s how the comp has always worked, where if they are allowed to scale it will beat just about every other comp. BUUUT, if you get a strong enough snowball going, you can get ahead before he comes online and take it over.

Granted, current peel items make it easier to protect the kog, but it’s the same principle.

Assassins who can backdoor him mid-fight. Champs who can cc a front line so the carry can get through. Champs who can wreck a team formation or simply zone one. Malphite, janna, rakan, talon, fizz, camille, kayn, gangplank, many many champs.

Split push. Try to have a lot of wave clear in your comp, something like Sivir Anivia so that they can just make sieges hell and force the enemy to tank tower without minions for the bonus durability, and try to have two split pushers. Say for example Trynd top and Yi jungle with Anivia mid, Sivir ADC and maybe a healer support to try and survive the defense. Protect the Kog comps depend on grouping as 5, so if you split top and mmbot at the same time, and they have a team dependent on Kog, he can't be in two places at once. This means either they let top and bot go and try to seige a team with excellent wave clear, which may result in them losing one or two inhibs, or they go after either top or bot and everyone else shove he opposite lane then recall as needed.
