No. Every mage rushes morello because it's the only item that builds from , which is 100% mandatory for mages (unless you're me and rush > instead).

Granted, morello is slightly overloaded. SLIGHTLY. It comes with 100 AP, 400 mana, 20% CDR, and then other passives nobody cares about. That's it. It is not some godlike item that you autowin the game once you complete it (cough cough), it is merely a small powerspike.

If there was another item that built from (HINT HINT, RIOT) morellos would be rushed a lot less and would no longer be the FoTM for mages.

It's time to stop memeing about being some kind of broken item that no other class has and how it needs to be gutted. People aren't retarded. Stop trying to spread that myth.

Every mage builds morello because riot gutted Mage's mana regeneration so that they are REQUIRED to build morello to be relevant not only early but also late game.

Play a game without morello, late game your mana drains so quick. If riot nerfs Morello Mages will have no other options to build.

Tear is still an option, but the majority of mages just don't use it very well.

I agree that item 3165 isn't busted. It's more like the other AP items are undertuned that Morellonomicon just looks stronger by comparison. It is an interesting dilemma because they can't exactly buff the other AP items because Mages are already doing quite a bit more damage in general due to the lack of MR runes after Runes Reforged hit live.

I'm curious to see how Riot'll get around that.

no one ever thought morello was overpowered (well, don't quote me on that); only that it warped AP itemization due to it being such a powerful generalist option. a one slot stop that solves mana, cooldown reduction, and AP early on and serves grievous wounds to boot.

it goes counter to diversity which is what people want with AP items. changing morello's place means riot has to give mages other options
