I wonder why Irelia is picked/banned so often now

There seems to be a trend with champs with near instant gap closers and ban rate right now...

Irelia Bot2 votesDoes well against Gnar and Lissandra who have been really common picks as of late as well as able to dowell agsint most of the ranged tops who have been being played since mid season 4. Remember Irelia was created to be a melee that is viable in a game that was at the time all about ranged champs.
But then she doesn't do the best against some melee so there is that.
Might try learning something like Malphite, Wukong, Trynda or panth. All of them tend to do well against Irelia or at least cause a massive headache.
