Jungle sucks because camps are worthless
This has been a problem for 2 years and Riot has progressively made the issue worse and worse since then. Scuttle changes, limiting gold income from lane farm, removing powerfarming as a strat, burying tank junglers with nerfs, and balancing around LCS have all been negatives for the role. But by far the worse move they made was making jungle camps worth less.
This is an example of Riot not doing the easy thing and trying to make things overly complicated and not using foresight. When laners complained about level 2 ganks, Riot could have done quite a few things to improve the issue. They could have made jungle camps worth more early so that there was a dangerous opportunity cost for leaving the jungle to risk a gank. They could have lengthened the vision time for early wards to allow for added safety. They could have reduced the damage to champs on jungle items for weaker ganks. There were a ton of options but they decided to just gut the role for any champ that isn't camping for 60 percent of the laning phase. I doubt anybody making real decisions even plays the game at Riot. It was very telling when they recently announced champs with "low lethality" will be nerfed for better ratings at Worlds. They really don't seem to care about player experience. If they did, the jungle would actually be a lot of fun again
