Not necessarily the same stats, but what if it allowed you to clear a ward? AP assassins might benefit a lot from it and give them more options for their itemization. It could also offer some magic pen and an enhanced auto?
Eve/akali/fizz/katarina/leblanc could all benefit. Not sure if this is a good idea

CloudedLogic3 votesI don't think it having a similar auto attack proc is a good idea. Lich bane already has a good auto proc scaling for ap, can be proc'd much more easily, and far more often. I think the problem with ap assassins wanting magic pen is that magic pen is good for non-assassins (as indicated by the fact that sorcerer shoes are a thing) while lethality seems to be intended for ad assassins for the most part, and non-assassins tend to break it.
Back on the magic pen thing, I already see people complain about how strong magic pen is at the moment (and is presumably part of the reason why haunting guise is being changed, and the pen moved to a new item).

Besides, ward-killing on assassins (from an item they already want for stats!) is borderline broken. The ones that are meant to be able to come in from stealth are balanced around that fact. We especially don't need AP Cho'gath to become a thing, from him just sitting in a bush he knows isn't warded, and just pressing WQE to instakill someone...
And we don't need 
abusing it, either...
