Should I learn AP Alistar to specifically deal with Zed?

Alistar is cancer.

Anyone that builds even a spellthief's edge worth of AP on him is more than cancer. Fuck any AP Ali ever gets.

No. Diana, Talon, Kayle, Vlad, and even Leblanc, are all good counters to zed.

Eh i'd say Talon Leblanc are more skill matchups, not counters.

If youre having fun with it, sure. Even though he has shitloads of burst and CC and is quite tanky with his ult, the fact that he has only 2 damage abilities which are on a rather high cooldown doesnt make him particularly strong as a Carry. Other examples who do well against Zed and suit APC more are Lissandra Malzahar Annie Swain .

Yeah only that Zed got buffed to absurd and out of four champs you pointed only Malza has any decent winratio vs Zed.

Because yeah, Liss or Swain might not die easily to Zed. But he still gets to be much stronger than them. Liss might not feed Zed, but she still is at disadvantage - for example, in terms of waveclear. Same goes for Vlad and LB from Badmoon's post.

Sad, but true.

You don't have to tell me that Zed is complete bonkers right now. What I meant with "they do well against Zed" is that they have an easier time than other champs that get completely screwed over.

Liss might not feed Zed, but she still is at disadvantage - for example, in terms of waveclear.

Lissandra might be one of the only mages who can stand up to Zed's crazily stupid waveclear (aside from maybe Velkoz ). She can clear extremely fast and also mana efficient if you do it right, while at the same time harassing him with your Q. She definitely is one of his counters. She can also lock him down when he goes in on your ADC or when your jungler goes in, follow his roams, farm decently and mana-efficiently and of course survive. Her only downsides are that she will probably not be able to 1v1 him and may be zoned.

It depends on your elo! I've played Alistar from Silver to Diamond. In Silver, he's very effective against Zed and other assassins. However, you'll have rough laning and you'll barely go even in anything higher than Platinum.

Here was my setup back when I was playing AP Alistar:

9 hpen marks 9 armor seals 9 scaling mr glyphs (alternatively, take CDR or more mpen) 3 as quints

12/18/0 taking Thunderlord's start Doran's Ring and pick up a second one on your first back, rush a Sheen

You can trade very well with him at level one and sustain through his poke with your E. Here's the real fun part, though: You're going to max W. It has the best scaling per level and the better ap ratio, as well as having a lower cooldown at all ranks. Deny him CS, threaten the all in, and if the jungler comes, ult and go for the kill. Spam the hell out of your Headbutt. Chances are, he'll still try to rush arpen instead of lifesteal and you'll win the war of attrition. Good luck in your endeavors.
