Support went from a relatively high skill roll to a brain dead one.

I really enjoy playing support, but whenever I win a game playing support I just feel like i'm some brain dead ardent abusing monkey, who knows how to slam their face off the keyboard activating locket and redemption every team fight. I use to main braum, but he is not even nearly as good of a support as So I'm forced to play those champs, none of which in my opinion require much thinking (I'm sorry to the mains)

Janna just spams her E on the adc buffing him to high hell, and then when someone jumps on the adc she slams R, locket, and redemption basically guaranteeing that the ADC is unkillable.

TL;DR I used to love support but now find it an easy brain dead roll.

Edit: I suppose it was never the highest skill cap roll, but before it used to require a little more thought.

I semi-mained support the last two seasons and don't play it right now because Ardent Censor just kills the roll. You're just a steroid bot now and doing anything else hinders your team. They need to replace the passive or gut the item so options can open back up.

I still play support, it just kills me inside a little knowing that my team probably just benefited a little more from my ardent and shield spams.

The whole Ardent Argument in itself makes no sense when a good Ardent user like Karma still has one of the lowest winrates of any support in the game. The issue isn't Arden't Censer, ancient coin is still bullshit and overtuned.

Sona, Soraka, and Janna are still just overtuned, and their old lack of income used to hold them back but that's not the case anymore with how much gold ancient coin gives.

Did you play Soraka when she was an HP and mana battery? She's way more interesting to play now. Support isn't about mechanics, it's about helping the team monitor the whole-map situation.

You have to recharge your health by getting into combat range to keep healing. Her Q is also dodgable, so it requires some planning.

soraka and sona are completely braindead. janna and lulu take a little more work(janna more than lulu)(sona has a higher bronze winrate than the other 4, while i believe raka beats her everywhere else, seems like a good indicator of a "brain dead champ") janna has more utility than the other champs with her q and ult, while using her well is easy, using her at her best takes some thought. her ult is one of those make or break abilities that can potentially mess up teamates. for example-shoving the assassin right up to your adc mid teamfight. but it also has better positive uses such as preventing an escape bot lane when you get ganked. i saw karma get mentioned as a deficient ardent support. and she is oddly enough. my best guess is that karma supports arent buying into the ardent meta because it doesnt work as well with her kit that does so well with heavier damage and a blue support item.
