Depends on how competent you are. I would be naturally wary but I would give you a chance.
I think the general consensus in the League community is: "as long as you know what you're doing, I don't care". In other words if you've played the off-meta pick enough to know its strengths, weaknesses, how to manage it vs. meta picks, and it isn't something that's just a troll pick (e.g. AP Riven, AD Vlad jungle), people don't really care.
However if by some chance you happen to fall behind, either solo or as a team, you're likely to bare the brunt of the blame. This is merely human nature; when something goes wrong people are more likely to blame the thing which does not conform or is out of place, rather than criticize the status quo. If you're willing to utilize the mute button in these scenarios, playing an off-meta pick in ranked is perfectly acceptable.
If you could tell me "I've done this plenty and I know what to do", I don't give a shit. If you're blowing off steam or tilted and decide to have fun, you're being an asshole. Do that in normals. However, if you know what you're doing, I like that more than playing a meta champions you've never looked at.
I'm nervous about it when I see weird-ass picks. But a player with a wierd-ass pick (who plays it competently) and a good attitude is fine in my book.

Just out of curiosity , do people dodge often?
