Because it's Q damage -> AA damage -> Chime damage. It's three sources of damage, meanwhile Sona is only one.

So for Sona it just doesnt count?

Last time I checked, it was Q damage -> AA damage -> Powerchord damage that is 3 right there the 4th is negotiable but it's the passive proc coming from Q

it makes no sense for her not to be able to proc it with her 3 DIFFERENT SOURCES OF DAMAGE

Powerchord is a modifier on her actual auto, not a separate entity. Meeps are their own thing entirely. You can still just as easily do it with Sona, AA -> Q -> Powerchord Empowered AA. Triggering Powerchord resets your AA timer IIRC.

Sona's Q-empowered AA actually procs 2 instances of the Spellthief items, so I would assume the buff and the AA are treated as 2 separate sources of dmg.

Possibly because Bard's AA and Meeps are separate projectiles while Sona's power chords are just on-hit effects.

It's because it's only an empowered auto attack. Not a third source of damage. The same comparison could be made for Lux when she attacks a target after hitting some with her passive. That counts as a third source of damage for lux because it procs as separate magic damage but the bonus from Sona's spell is just enhancing her attack. So for her it's the Q spell damage and when she attacks it's her basic attack enhanced by her passive, no damage is triggered as is with lux or bard. I hope this helps explain it. Further advice may be to try autoing followed by q and another (assumedly empowered) auto. If it's not safe to harass like that then I'd suggest trying windspeakers blessing instead for those games.

So does AA>Q>PowerChord not proc thunderlord's?

Marthian2 votes

It does. However, it requires auto attacking twice along with Q, which can sometimes be hard, especially since Sona's Q range is bigger than Sona's/most carry's auto attack range.

Edit: Unless Powerchord was part of the first attack, then afaik it does not. Which contradicts Bard's Passive triggering it.

Spellthief counts powerchord + aa as 2 sources of damage therefore thunderlords should as well. This needs to be fixed, either they both apply the same or neither do.

No, it actually counts it as 3, you can easily proc all 3 charges of spellthiefs with just a q and auto attack

Q + Q on hit + Auto attack ( + Bonus Powerchord )

Just auto attack reset with your passive? At 2 stacks, you auto -> Q -> auto.

we are talking about thunderlords, and I never said Q, said powerchord and aa not Q. Spellthief counts the chord bonus damage to aa as 2 but thunderlords counts it as 1. Therefore you Q + aa + the powerchord bonus damage from passive and spellthief says 3 thunderlords says 2.
