Where's grievious wounds going?

Now over the last 2 patch sets from what I remember, riot has been removing grievous wounds from many champions. I would like to ask why? With the release of Darius' massive new sustain, and morde's slightly less massive heal, some options for grievous wounds would be greatly appreciated.

Now you may just say "Hey, just build morrel's it'll be okay!" But what if your team really lacks someone who really should build that item, say an energy, resourceless, or ad mid laner. Not to mention most top laners are either tanky ad or resource-less ap. Right now only two champions that have some form of grievous wounds; Varus' AOE spot applies it, and Katarina's ult. I'm just so confused??

If you got any insight into this I would appreciate it. It just feels like the meta is really getting rocked by champs with huge sustain, which would be well dealt with using grievous wounds.

Edit: Ideally I'd like to see a Riot post giving us all some insight.
