Galio Tips?

Hardstuck G4··1 votes·426 views

So, I just recently purchased Galio, and I think he's the most awkward champion to play. I've yet to actually touch him (unlike Kennen and Karma, my last two purchases) because I feel like I would have a difficult time grasping the concept of his kit. Any tips? Including but not limited to

  • Build Path
  • Skill Order
  • Combos(if any)
  • Favorable matchups
  • Unfavorable matchups

Thank you in advance

So look... Grass shines, Birds hurt people, the sun grows, and bruvva... Galio flies. It's funny because all of this can happen.

Anyways, I have no idea how to play galio, but I do have a friend that has a ncie chunk of experience with him ad from instantly assuming I know what to do let's get started.

Now, your build path depends on where you're going. If you're going support, you might want an item 3301. If you're ADC... Wait wtf..? If you're mid, get a item 1056. And if you're top, go get... A doran's ring, I guess. Or whatever you feel might suit you better I dunno.

I've seen my friend max out his eye-blast ball thing first, and getting one or two points into the heal shield as me maxes his windy thingie. If you're support, however, you might wanna max that shield first, and if you think you're winning lane, max out that eye blast. If you think it's a better idea, get the windy thingie. Again, I have no idea, it's up to you.

I've always seen him constantly use the PSHEW eyeballs and wind thing first, and then shield to go in there if flash is unavailable, and R. It wreaks havoc is they don't run away.

I have no idea about matchups. With this half-arsed guide to galio, I wish you luck. :P

It feels good that I understood that xD Also, ADC Galio's gonna be meta man. DL is gonna play it in his first game for TSM item 3031 item 3046 item 3072 item 3006 item 3139 item 3035

He's super awkward, and really only good in very specific situations. He's an MR tank that gets damage for building tankier, which I'm sure you noticed already.

The builds I typically see for him are item 3174 item 3001 item 3157 item 3111 item 3135 and the final item depends on what you need in the game. You can opt for Deathcap to deal more damage, or a Spirit Visage for more tank and added healing. Some go for Banshee's Veil, but I think SV works better due to Bulwark. I've also seen people opt for Luden's and Deathcap for a final item and to replace Zhonyas. You also want to buy the Distortion Enchantment for your boots all the time as his flash ult is a pretty potent combo to crush a teamfight.

I really only suggest picking him into heavy magic damage teams, so your mid laner is AP, their jungler is AP, Supports typically all deal primarily magic damage. You can swap the jungler for a top laner that deals magic damage to have the same effect, but if they both have magicc damage he's a great pick over all.

He doesn't really have combos to speak of other than the infamous flash ult, just put your shield on whoever is taking damage.

Galio is genuinely just picked to make your life easy against a heavy magic damage team. You can run him into just about any magic damage mid laner and do fine once you get some items. He's supposed to be really good into LeBlanc, because she more or less can't kill you ever in lane unless you screw up hard.

This is only for Galio top. Have at least a Mastery 3 of him:

#Build Path

If team mostly consist of AD, go item 3111 item 3068 item 3143 item 3027 item 3075 item 3800 . item 3047 if enemy team has way less CC. If team mostly consists of AP, go item 3111 item 3027 item 3190 item 3001 item 3102item 3157 . item 3065 is optional if you need more healing/sustain with your W.

#Skill Order

In most of my games, I max both QW at each level one by one, as in Q-W-Q-W-Q-W. Usually because Galio is easy to burn mana with for starters, and he is a pretty easy guy to get bullied at top lane, so having sufficient mana(still with decent damage anyway) & your W which keeps bitch-ass pokers like Rivens to deal almost to no damage.

You can sustain faster in lane simply by making minions focus you during your W.

Combos

I don't know what a guy like Galio can make such LC$BigPlay$$. But usually, as long as you have good accuracy with Q, then you can typically just spam everything you got on him. The only thing important about Galio's kit is his ult. In most giant teamfights, it's best to either use E to get into the fray or Flash in so that you can land your ult on the most enemy champions available there. Do note that a item 3102 or a Morgana pick is essential if you're going up against an enemy comp with tons of CC on them, especially champs like Braum Udyr Blitzcrank .

#Favourable Matchups

Riven Her damage typically almost does nothing if you max your W to at least 2 points. Juke out her shield and then land your Q would force Riven to recall early. Try not to ult on her whilst she is in the middle of her 3rd Q cast time.

Teemo He's like a tiny lil Shen, due to his E passive(which acts like Shen's Q) that keeps you sustain in lane even more with the steady heals from your W, and the fact that Teemo is squishy enough to get nuked(a little...) from your Q. Also, he's Ap(duh), means you can rush for MR items like item 3111 item 3001

Renekton This is kind of a 50-50 matchup. After you see him going to EWQE, rush out your W to be dealt less damage & then try punishing back with your QE. But at most times, try to save your E for escapes since Renekton can simply double E on you for an empowered stun. And most importantly, do not ult when Renekton's W is at the ready.

#Unfavourable matchup

Garen There's really no point in poking him due to his passive & natural high defence stats, since you'll just be wasting mana on him. Kind of a big-ass bully. If he manages to Q you before you can hit W, then you're really going to have a bad time.....

Nasus Same concept as Garen. Nasus can simply Q free farm as much as he wants since your pokes hurts as much as a finger flick. Best to call out your jungler more often when laning against him as Galio. Good news is that he does not have any interruption CC. Remember this fact the next time you face him in giant teamfights.

TahmKench It's a pretty horrific matchup for the Sentinel here. Tahm Kench can be pretty sticky due to his Q and the ability to nuke you down with his W(since most of the time you may be forced to build HP, making Tahm's W do more damage), and your pokes also do nothing against him due to his E heals. Also best to call out your jungler more.
