[Champion Concept] Benevier, Final Knight of Purity

Hardstuck G4·3/17/2015, 3:00:37 PM·17 votes·3,234 views

Benevier is a bruiser champion whose primary objective is to effectively jungle, take out priority targets, and become a massive tank for his team. Benevier uses a shortsword and a large Kite Shield.

Passive: Finality- If Benevier is at less than 25% health, he gains armor and magic resist, scaling with his level. Level 1-6: 5 Armor and MR, 6-11: 15 Armor and MR, 11-16: 25 Armor and MR. 16-18: 35 Armor and MR.

Q: No Pain- Benevier heals himself for a flat amount, increasing with more HP he has lost.

W: Unbearable Pain- Passive: Benevier does true damage around him once every 15 seconds, dealing more damage the more units around him. Active- Benevier strikes out with his shield, dealing damage to one target, reducing their Armor and MR, and increasing his Armor and MR by the same amount.

E: Purest Strike- Benevier enchants his sword with the light of an angel, dealing extra damage with every auto, and every 3 autos, he cleaves his sword, doing 50% damage to targets around him. This effect lasts for 5 seconds.

R: Untouched Light- Benevier explodes, dealing damage to enemies around him, and healing his team for the same amount.

Lore: Benevier was one of the few Purity Knights who stood on the council, and his word was one that had been heard millions of times. When a small encampment of theirs was attacked by the Knights of Oblivion, his word was the one that tilted the scale and launched them into a war, an exceptionally bloody one. Many skirmishes led up to one final battle that showed the true power of both armies.

Benevier himself was thrown into the war, and, stroke after stroke, he took out hundreds of the enemies. Yet his own Knights were being forced back, leaving him the lone warrior in an army of men. After one stroke that took out two of his opponent's, Benevier saw the murder of his friend, the one who had saved him millions of times, his brother in arms truly. Seeing his friend fall, Benevier felt a surge of power, and called upon his patron angel, Chayyliel, and unleashed a destructive burst of power the wiped out the Oblivion Knights, as well as the Purity Knights.

Seeing that he has killed both armies, Benevier fell into a state of despair, until he learned that an Oblivion Knight had plans to join the League of Legends. Hearing this, Benevier turned course to the League, preparing to fight his final opponent.

The picture here is what I expect him to look like.

A very simple kit. A very simple lore. I love the simplicity, but I do not think it is very unique.

It makes me think of a TaricTaric whose W, Shatter, does not lose his armor buff. I know it is not a 1-to-1 comparison for Benevier, but that is who I feel he is most similar to.

Tell me your secrets for acquiring upvotes. _

P: his Passive is just a straight up boost to his effective health. maybe it would be better if you gave him some sort of resistance to armor/MR penetration.

Q: kinda simple don't you think? maybe have him heal allies nearby for a potion of his current health. that way he has a choice to either use it at high health to heal his team more, or use it a low health to heal himself more. (also switch places with W)

W: i don't think he needs the passive portion. just a shield bash that increase his armor/MR, and lowers his opponents. probably should also throw in extra damage based on your max health. (also switch places with Q)

E: so this is just a attack damage steroid? okay I'm fine with that, but tanks are *extended *fighters, so this should last longer and scale off of armor and MR.

R: boring if you ask me. maybe change the damage and healing into over time effects. (extended fights and all) every second for X seconds, the ally champion with the least amount of health is healed for X, while the enemy champion with the most amount of health is dealt X true damage. (within a range of him, of course)

All in all: could use some work, but has a lot of potential.

there, I have reviewed your concept and given you my honest opinion/feedback. I would certainly appreciate it if you did the same with mine : ) http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/rlmGEN9R-champion-concept-rem-the-thought-keeper

Hi Cil,

Here's what I think works about your idea and the overall presentation-

1- You keep things simple. One picture, short descriptions, simple skills. People are more willing to read and respond to your concept than, say, my own, because they can read the whole thing and understand every mechanic at play in under a minute.

2- Simple and effective theme- a paladin-esque knight with healing and tanking abilities. Easy to understand.

3- Some of the mechanics are unique enough to warrant praise without seeming overly complicated.

Now as far as my personal feedback-

Benevier's passive seems really weak. The scaling is low and more importantly, kicking in at 25% means that he needed defensive stats for the last 75% of his health but didn't have any. Resistances are preventative stat modifiers, as opposed to heals and shields which are reactive. I recommend changing this spell into a "Paladin Bubble" of sorts, similar to Blitzcrank's Mana Barrier. Perhaps you could tie his shield to bonus health or AP?

Q is overly simplistic and should probably have some sort of stat modifier or secondary effect attached.

W is an awesome skill. I love the idea of a tank dealing a true damage aura in the middle of a chaotic team fight while he peels or dives. I recommend making this his Q, though, and swapping the heal to W, to be consistent with Riot's ability conventions.

E is pretty bland but necessary for a jungle clearing and AoE-centric front liner.

R is where I have issues with. It's a really simple and binary spell, and an Ult-caliber heal combined with an Ult-caliber AoE explosion seems like all power with no gameplay. I recommend a total rework for this ability.

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate any comments or upvotes you can send my way. :)

This kit has something about it that I really love, and that is it has no CC or mobility. However, what do you see him doing in the middle of a teamfight? If he is going to tank he needs to attract damage somehow. Is he doing enough damage to get that, even without cc or being able to get on a high priority target?

I always enjoy these when they happen. Read the whole thing, didn't read many comments but here.

First, I think about how I can abuse this character to make a strong one in what "I" would do with him. Lets see this hit.

Passive: I think building more HP, and maybe Hex drinker for a sudden burst of shield giving more to the MR, and keeping the passive would be great. But perhaps I wont have room for the item. I personally really like the passive, it's not over bearing.

Q: Not bad, I like it. Reminds me of Taric. item 3065 And some stuff in the tank tree. Major heals.

W: 15 Seconds is too long of a wait, maybe not for a tank in the past... But in a fight You wont last more than 8 seconds with an ADC and an APC targeting you. Maybe constant true damage in a smaller amount. But also thinka bout how big the dmg would have to be for a 15 second wait? Sunfire cape is(Was?) dealnig 45 dmg every second. 45 x 15 is 675. I cant really imagine how much a 15 second save up of true damage would be. -The activate also remind me of Taric. His shatter. If I were this guy, this "tank" I'd be a monster with item 3153 item 3726, just go tank and you have free damage and healing. A LOT OF DAMAGE. Maybe item 3091 if they have lots of MR.

E: Like this. Become a super split pusher with item 3074 item 3025

R: I honestly don't like. Not because it is poorly made. But that it dose not fit with he lore you wrote. It sounds like the same ability. But it delt damage to his allies. Perhaps he was mad at someone leaving his friend to die? Changing who he saw as Allies?

-I also need to know, is he a tanky AP? Or dose he have some AD scaling?

Also how did that last knight survive? Why is he compelled to keep fighting after so much destruction by his hand?

Greeting Cilllller. I have a request I would like to ask of you privately through e-mail, so if you could e-mail me at [email protected], that would be great!

Hopefully this doesn't sound too creepy lol. I just want to ask you something. :)

Nice champion by the way. So sustain-y!

Carniverous3/17/2015, 11:24:41 PM1 votes

Alright, I'm glad you liked it, and Im more glad that you still have plans! And a two part lore is really looking good.

Riot doesn't (Didn't?) normally like to make AD scaling tanks. Shen Chogath But there are plenty of exceptions. And even then the tanks dont have huge AD scaling to keep them in line.

So as a little sneak peek, what is the roll for this Final Knight of Oblivion?

JedenVojak3/18/2015, 1:12:07 AM1 votes

Ah, the Chalice Knight card. I remember him being all right.

The Dwarf fighters are all pretty much better though, imo.

I think that you are on the right track here, but I feel there are a few problems with this. I feel he would be very underpowered.

Passive- What if it just reduced armor/magic penetration by a % or made the enemy unable to reduce his armor/magic resistances (abyssal scepter, black cleaver, and other armor/mr shredding effects don't work on him).

Q- This ability is far to weak. Activate heals Benevier over 8 seconds, and while he's healing he gains AS and MS. I like that it scales with missing HP. Keep that part.

W- This doesn't need the passive. My suggestion for tweaking it would be to make him swing his shield in a cone in front of him, slowing every enemy hit. Benevier gains 5 AR/MR for each enemy champion struck. If the target is alone deal bonus magic damage and stun the target.

E- This ability is fine, just increase the duration.

R- This ability is a little confusing to me. Is it a suicide technique? In any case, I think it would work better if Benevier's power is unleashed around him, damaging nearby enemies and stealing AR/MR from them, increasing Benevier's and his allies' AR/MR. This should scale with Benevier's missing HP. Lasts for 5 seconds.

boring AF design

Hardstuck G43/18/2015, 3:57:46 PM1 votes

Alright, after a large amount of thinking, I have finally decided on the stats for Benevier's abilities.

First off, the passive has been changed. When he drops below 10% of his current health, then he gains 10% (300 second CD) Q: 50/100/150/200/250 Heal, 10/20/30/40/50 AD for 10 seconds after using it. W: Now does 10/20/30/40/50 Damage around him once every 3 seconds. E: The Cleave does 50% of the damage around him in a circle(Darius Q style), and the basic attacks give 10/25/40/55/70 AD Read changes below for R.

i like how most of the comments are trying to give him utility so he gets shoved into the support role.
