MR Items were recently buffed, the SoloQ meta has shifted towards melee, Devourer junglers, and tanks that are good at peeling are needed due to the constant threat of Juggernauts. Why isn't he picked more?Don't throw out the early mana costs argument because there are currently pretty meta champions with far worse mana costs.
Fiveofswords2 votesgalio is great agaisnt ap heavy teams. Like say midlane, top and jungle are all ap...galio is an obvious pick. But fiora/zed/yasua are much mroe popular picks right now and galio is simply a terrible pick agaisnt some all or mostly ad composition.
ppl seem to complain about mana a lot but thats kinda ridiculous...you get athenes with him and theres no mana issues. for the first few levels jsut the crystal vial is good enough...you actually CAN last hit miniosn with autoattacks you know...if you lane opponent is ap you dont need to fear much about poke damage from it.

MisterHealYoGirl1 votesGalio can be a STRONG pick right now, but he's not a SAFE pick. Many popular champs like Braum, Rek'Sai, Blitzcrank, Leona, Garen, and Hecarim can cancel his ultimate, so if you blind pick him into that, you're going to have a bad time. That said, if you're up against two or more heavy magic damage sources (Fizz top, Diana jungle, whatever), he can really take over a game. He's also dependent on Flash to land ults (even more so than Annie), so if you get ganked and have to flash defensively, his offensive capability can really be shut down.
