@Riot : Is roaming as support bannable?

Mavëríck··4 votes·2,293 views

Because I do it... quite a lot as Galio Galio. Not even just with ult, but just walking mid or even top after a recall and lingering around and scoring some kills and warding up jungle.

This has more often than not yielding a turned around game where we come back from a loss, or increasing our win. I can snag assists, faster levels, vision control earlier, help with objectives, use my cc to gank, grab turret plates from other lanes and get more fed, etc.

If roaming constantly as Support is bannable then tell me NOW so I know! I don't WANT to break the rules.[galio-happy]

Roaming as a support isn't bannable, abandoning your adc from level one, sapping exp from your mid lane, doing an "off meta" strat that you don't communicate to your allies however, is.

Except its not, riot even stated as such. He got banned for an entirely different reason.

Yeah, he was banned for trolling, here is the post from WookieCookie: Riot will not ban a player for off meta-play; full stop. If you're curious on our thoughts about off meta play you can hear it straight from Meddler here: [Youtube clickable link]

This player in particular popped up on our radar a few weeks ago and we decided to not take action at that time because playing Teemo in this method is not against our rules.

However, after reviewing the continued reports we were receiving (from multiple sources) a pattern was forming where this targeted off meta behavior was occurring most often in games when the player was with a high profile streamer. If you want to play off meta, we think that's great! If you want to play off meta only to spite other players and reap the negative reactions and attention from their viewers while they are streaming then we don’t consider that a good faith use of off meta play.

Reporting players for trolling is not something only streamers have the power to do. I always encourage people to report through the client (obviously). But if you encounter a player that you think is behaving in a way to get around our systems then anyone can send us a ticket directly and we will investigate that situation. We won't take action if we can't determine a pattern of trolling or if we believe the player is making a good faith effort with their off meta play. But if we do see someone is consistently using off meta play as an excuse to troll people then we will intervene.

So like I said, as long as you don't ignore your adc, stifle your mid laner, then expect people to play around your strat all while not communicating, you are fine.

You didnt even read what you wrote did you? Teemo support mid is fine. That was the original conclusion. The issue is he supposedly did it to grief streamers as opposed to playing it to play it (which theres zero evidence to support this but w/e riot)

Think about this for 5 seconds.

Rule 1 is a suggestion, not an actionable rule. If im last pick and my team doesnt have a tanky CC champ, and i dont want to play tanky CC, am i going to honestly be banned because i didnt pick tanky CC? Rule 1 is not actionable.

Rule 4 also doesnt apply. Its not enjoying at the expense of others, if others refuse to adapt around their teams pick thats entirely on them.

If i dont like playing with a certain champ because they dont synergize with me, am i going to report that player for picking a champ that "ruins my fun"? Of course the fuck not. That would be absurd.

Ok, so if someone has a strat where they intentionally feed and in their minds they are doing it for the good of the team so the teammates get more gold when they kill the fed person, the team should adapt around that?

I wouldn't mind a "mid support" in bot games either is what I am trying to say. If that's all their experience with this game, how would they ever understand what trolling really is.

He didn't do that tho, did he? At the particular game that Nubrac got banned from Nightblue3, Nightblue3 went ahead to afk in base even when Nubrac was just winning their game and also, Nightblue also was spamming in chat "report this guy" "have fun in your 14 days vacation" over and over and not only that but also encouraged his team to afk. I mean...Who is more bannable in this case? Nightblue or Nubrac?

Perma ban for Nightblue 100%, griefing, afking, throwing game, asking for reports, toxic. He broke every rule short of inting and he not only get with this away he was rewarded by riot.

Inting sion start was to just push towers, and even if enemy kills you, you can push towers even faster due to sions passive. What Jamaree is asking is if some1 decides to just run it down mid (with any other champ) under the excuse of "the teammates get more gold when they kill the fed person" should that be allowed and played around, or disregarded as inting?

I mean, if you say it should be allowed then we might aswell stop banning players for inting cuz that might be a new strat :D

Theres also tryndamere and karthus, where if trynd is behind he can still pressure top towers and get farm, even if he dies repeatedly, and karthus is literally designed to die. Dying is a legitimate strategy if you trade your life for map pressure.

So it's not inting. Karthus didnt "int" just for map pressure, he "inted" in the middle of the teamfight to spread his damage and eventually ult without being interrupted. Trynd "inting" is just split pushing, dying isnt their goal, they are trading their life for objectives, but trading their life isnt really part of the strategy, they avoid dying if possible.

Again, that's not "inting" thats just the nickname that was given to that strat.

No, that's not what he said lol. He said giving kills to the enemy team so they get a bounty for one of his team mates to cash in.

If you think that's a valid strat and shouldnt be bannable, than there is nothing to discuss because we dont see ANYTHING eye to eye on this subject of what trying to win actually means.

Except it is? You can play off meta strategies nobody is saying you can't but the instant those strategies start causing a negative experience to those in your game and your teammates clearly not wanting you to play that way yet you keep doing it over and over for whatever reason then it just crosses the line of "acceptable". If everyone keeps reporting you for playing a certain way then you should actually rethink your off meta thing. Maybe have people on board of whatever it is you are trying to do instead of forcing people to play the way you want to play because reasons.

Guess what? If you get banned you cannot come here complaining about it! If your team doesn't want you to play a certain way you are a singular person trying to force your will on 4 others. You want to play your off meta strategy? Find like minded people. I don't have to deal with anything. 4 > 1. You want to do off meta stuff? Either communicate with your team and have their support or make q premade group with people who would be ok with that sort of strategy. I could care less what the 1 person wants. If he is going to create a NEGATIVE experience for the rest of his team then he deserves to be banned. Simple as that. You can say whatever you want means absolutely nothing. A singular person isn't greater than the rest of the team. If your team doesn't want you to do something and you just give them a middle finger and do it anyways cuz "I wants to play this way!" Then you deserve to be banned.

There are hundreds of champions and strategies that are/were "off meta" yet people accepted them. Why? Because people COMMUNICATED with their team and had their team support instead of going "whatever you want I could care less I'm playing this and that's final"

Should you communicate your intention, absolutely. Should 4 people be able to force 1 person to play a certain way, no. By your reasoning if a duo decides they are going to play the rolls they want to regardless of where the system put them they can bully their way to that because they basically out vote any 1 other player and will probably be able to get the others to take their side just to avoid being penalized for dodging or returning to a long ass wait. Leaving the other player who got screwed over to take the penalties or likely get reported for not bending over and saying thank you.

When people literally are telling you "no don't do this" and you keep doing it then you are in the wrong. If you want to play "support mid" and your mid lane and adc want nothing to do with that then you are in the wrong. Same can be said about "top support" or "jungle support". That can also be said about literally every single strategy in the game that's "off meta". You want double top with no jungler? Cool does your top laner want a second person in his lane? Is the rest of your team fine with there being no jungler on their team?

You can say whatever you want. There is a SUMMOMER CODE learn it. Two of the rules there directly contradict with this sort of behavior. Like i said, either get the approval of your team or get a premade group if you want to try out "off meta" strategies. You don't want to do it? Then you have zero rights to complain after getting banned.

End of conversation.

never helping the adc and going lvl 1 mid soaking xp of a lvl dependant laner for no reasons is not fine.

ZephyrDrake1 votes

Define "roaming"

You mean doing nothing but go to random lanes, stealing exp, abandoning your adc and doing stupid things? Or actually going to get some form of actual advantage for the other lanes (vision, ganks) while your adc is inactive safe spot?

Because those are two entire different forms of "roaming"
