0 armor pen "late game" crit build > full armor tank pretty surprising [sg-zephyr]
Yes. That is why it took 18 autos even with janna steroids. GJ you showed a clip proving tanks are tanky!
Not to mention Maokai is one of the more disgusting tanks to fight because of his passive.
To be fair, though, Cowsep had no lifesteal. He should have fought that.
only took him 1 and a half lane with red buff + red smite + being a whole item and a half ahed + having maoki just letting him free hit him for 99% of the time. idk, seems like a pretty long tanking time, if this was in a teamfight he would wreck so much havoc until he goes down, far from you average board scenario of "tanks melt in 2 seconds"
may i see any AP champ with
and blue buff kill a
maokai like that tho?
That is not and never has been their job. Mao ESPECIALLY counters casters, anyway.
Janna isnt exactly the best tank-killer I can think of either ![]()
Janna may not have any kit-based ability to kill tanks or even do damage, but critical strike and attack speed builds on nearly every champion give them the most sustained DPS, but that also gives them the lowest amount of burst damage and survivability.
Most marksmen don't have natural tank damage in their kit, most of it comes from the items. Thats why adc is one of the hardest scaling roles generally and also why champs with high base/% damage in their kits (tristana and twitch have base stat buffs, jhin, varus, and kog have % health damage) are so in the meta right now, because they are some of the only champs that can go bottom and do decent damage without relying too hard on item purchases.
Crit builds are supposed to scale into late game with more AD and Last Whisper and stuff. A 2 item adc isnt supposed to 1v1 a tank just like a (burst) mage isnt supposed to.
Also
critical strike and attack speed builds on nearly every champion give them the most sustained DPS, but that also gives them the lowest amount of burst damage
i beg to differ lul
Maybe because are not designed to kill tanks, they make up for it with having utility in their spells and having either larger range, bonus effects or AoE. I dont see your point, should i make a comment on how an assassin cant kill a tank aswell?
They're nowhere close to not being punished.
I just had a 3v3 as Garen, into AD Illaoi, Yasuo, and Vayne. I built intelligently (Black Cleaver, Tabis, Deadman's, Randuin's, and then most of Thornmail), and they couldn't kill me without beating on me for 15 seconds in a 3v1. Two high DPS champions, one with true damage, and they couldn't kill me.
Shhh, dont anger the circle jerk didnt you hear? all AD champs 1 shot you from level 1 no matter what, and tanks can only survive 3 shots
The difference is you were playing Garen. He has a 60% damage reduction for 5 seconds (stronger defensive steroid than any tank you will find in the game) and deals decent damage on top of that. He also has naturally very high base stats, movement speed, and tenacity.
Garen technically has no weaknesses in a fight once he builds thornmail. And he is among the hardest to kill champions in the game, ironic considering how tanks are supposed to provide that for a team but fall short a lot.
I see your point in saying that full AD teams are not punished, but Garen is an outlier of the main issue, which happen to be tanks like Malphite and Rammus who suffer even when they're supposed to be up against a team that they counter hard.
I might be wrong, but isn't it only 60% for the first 1.5 seconds and then 30%?
Ah, yes. First .75 seconds. I stand corrected.
But 30% reduction is still a lot. The only defensive steroid that inherently beats it is Alistar's Unbreakable Will, which is an ultimate, not a basic ability.
Galio W is 40% WITH a scaling attached to it as well. Galio R is also 30% with yet another ratio attached to it.
That vayne was bad tbh
What I mean is that vayne can't kite garen extremely easy. And assuming her autos do zero damage she still does 108% true damage over 27 auto attacks. At 2.0 atspd (pretty standard vayne build) that's under 15 seconds. Count the damage from her autos and factor in the attack speed slow then either you were stupid fed or vayne was killing you by herself in about 7 seconds. Max. Or she was simply terrible at the game.
okay but what items did THEY have and levels and were they hitting you the whole time of was there chase in between ? were you fed and way ahead of them? You give nothing of the important context as how they engaged you. I'm not saying full AD aren't punished but i think you bring a bad argument. Because shit if that's the case i've tanked a team longer than i should have with nami and lived to tell about it.
I would suggest getting something that's not thornmail on urgot, and see if that works. Maybe a bit of damage, other than mallet, and occasionally cleaver/maw. Last I checked, Urgot was rather damagey, and benefited form cd. I would suggest getting cleaver, all the time, as quick as possible. if you are getting hit a bit, pull a Righteous Glory, for the mana, more cd, and some defenses. Mallet seems good, so maybe get that next. This turns u into a much more healthy tank (700 from mallet, 400 from cleaver, 400 from glory, 1500 total), with only three items. You can then choose boots (armor, mr, speed...) and your other two items according to whether ur stomping, or getting stomped by physical/magical damage.
also randuin's omen would be good when u jump in/flip somebody, then slow them, and do the shotgun circle around them.
TL:DR Thornmail isn't super hot on urgot, get more health/damage/cd.
To add onto this match history scan, Corki does magic damage. Don't build armor and expect that to do anything to him. Adaptive Helm is the best defensive item against him, but a Maw or Visage will work if you need it.
Does tabi and randuin's work against him? Although he deals mostly magic dmg, his autos should still be affected by this two items
They do, but Corki currently mostly deals damage through a combination of Spellblade and Energized Strike mixed in with spells, and I don't think those first two are affected by Tabi. Best just grab MR against him, he seriously does not do much physical damage at all.
Yo, as an Urgot player who has looked extensively at his stats, particularly with regards to item builds/item orders, let me just say that you have a great intuition, but let me make a few additional suggestions.
Mallet is actually your rush item as Urgot. You want that shit ASAP, and its the highest spike to his winrate once that item is completed. It gives you every stat you want, AD. health, plus it slows on your auto attacks. This lets you make up for your self slow on W, this lets you stick like glue between making your E, R and Q easier to land, keeps people from getting away, and helps your allies pile on them too. However, you don't want to build this item with nothing else.
Instead, its actually better to get a phage on your first back, then boots and a Jaurim's Fist, which you'll then make into FM, followed by completing BC for your second item. New Urgot doesn't need mana, and while CDR is nice, its not crucial once you have at least your BC. I would recommend getting a Sterak's Gage if you're ahead/snowballing at that point (FM + BC + SG is an incredibly strong pairing) Or going straight to hp + resist items.
Against auto attackers an early Bramble Vest is great, but I wouldn't complete TM for a while. As you mentioned, against magic damage you typically want Adaptive (if it helps against the magic you're facing ofc) or a SV. For armor TM is great as is Randuin's (especially the active slow and crit reduction).
I wouldn't get more than 2-3 hybrid offensive and defensive items, and wouldn't get any pure offensive items.
Have you tried full armor Sej, Rammus, or Malphite? Those are my go to tanks because they all have armor scaling and I feel unlikable because they all get like 600+ armor. Last time I went full armor Sej I had both glacial shard items, thornmail, tabi, sunfire, and deadmans and I felt pretty solid.
Taric is nice too.
That W passive tho
This.
full ad team comps get absolutely dumpstered if the enemy has a brain.
Try playing full ad against a team with Rammus/Sej jungle, and Malphite top. You will want to kill yourself.

as someone who plays a lot of rammus i can say that ive had my fair share of games against full ad teams where i still got melted by their team despite a full build of straight armor. part of the problem is that theres so much stuff to get around armor (and now with LW changes you can get a buttload of penetration for cheap) and on top of that armor items are just nowhere near as strong as they used to be
Because you didn't abuse them correctly. Nearly 95% of junglers I see up to plat 1 just afk farm and bullshit the game expecting to win at anytime when they're farmed up. Sometimes other junglers help their team, like you should. Rammus is one of the best divers in the game and has crazy defense steroids. Should have made a map impact and they would have done nothing to you unless you ran into their nexus turret or something.

actually i play rammus top and occasionally support, never jungle. i think i may have done jungle rammus once back in season 4
Really? Is that tanks in over 90% of LCS games and also unkillable?
I'm just seeing way too many full AD comps. The funny thing is, what used to be punishable is no longer something you can capitalize on. It just feels like the melt through you despite being able to go full armor instead of MR and Armor....
Is this some kind of a troll post?

Funny.. I remember in season 5 if Rammus was picked and you had full AD you automatically lost. He was practically unkillable. Him and malphite both. Now, after a certain amount of time, I watch both of them get obliterated.
Sounds like an issue with either individual or team play, especially with Malphite. While Rammus does have pretty shitty AoE initiation, Malphite should still utterly obliterate a full AD team through a good ult, as no matter how fast the enemy team can shred the tank, they can't do any damage if they're midair.
They definitely get punished, but full AD doesn't mean your win condition is building armor, as in buying armor items doesn't guarantee that you will be invincible and inevitably beat them.
The champions that counter them (cough rammus) were nerfed too hard for the late game and early game advantages to matter.
I
don't
know
why
you'd
feel
that
way
They did get punished once, when Rammus got off the bench to remind them why being a full AD team is a bad idea.
Riot nerfed Rammus for that.
There's nothing better than picking Malphite into a full ad comp and getting 500 armor when your passive's up before the 20 minute mark.
and on top of that meh is
which is mostly passive only because adcs abuse the stats when its any stronger.
Last Whisper upgrades and crit are both slightly too strong imo. Or maybe just lower crit bursts per second would go a long way.
If you're a carry buying armor, sure. Lol. Tanks feel godlike when they get to stack armor. Rammus/sej/malphite/Mundo all seem to live forever vs ad teams, while doing a decent+ amount of damage - and Mundo isn't even a champ that likes to build armor. Lol.
Mundo loves stacking resistances and health. Stacking health alone simply doesn't work in today's LoL. There is too much %hp damage going around to even consider it.
I know what he likes to stack, I play so much Mundo. Lol. He stacks health and armor against a full ad team, and can't die. Lol. And hes the "MR rammus". Lol. So of course the "armor tanks" surivive even better. Mundo is one of the "worst" tanks to have vs a full ad team, and he's still godlike vs a full ad team (assuming he builds properly).
I was under the impression that Galio has always been the MR version of Rammus/Malphite, but I suppose Mundo has become pretty good at mitigating magic damage as well due to his most recent changes.
He was. He still is-ish. He's less so than he used to be, imo. Mundo on the other hand his a semi-permenant (his w is almost always on mid/late) MR buff, and his synergy with visage is insane.
