wits end upgrade idea (only affects minions)

I was curious if wits end would see more play on heroes like Shen and others if it offered a way to help a little more with wave clear. So idea is you pay ~300 gold to upgrade wits end It then gives you spellblade every 2 sec (kind of like the new Stormrazor mechanic) (200%base ad) but only vs non champion units/or just lane minions. or instead of Spellblade it could deal a flat value say 60+4 per level Magic Damage, that way heroes with low base AD can still benefit from it equally.

This could allow a tankier bruiser build on Irelia and she could still reset Q against minions. Maybe the cooldown can be triggered when hitting enemy champions too but not apply damage. otherwise it might be too good for q resets vs minions? Not sure. It could give Irelia slightly different playstyle. https://imgur.com/Y3jAlJT

EDIT: cost of item and gold refund is open to change of course as well as other stats. I think the gold refund could be 400g over 8 or 9 mins. also should read basic attack deals bonus physical damage equal to... not apply a spellblade like I wrote. It doesn't have to deal 200% either could do 180% base AD

Another thing I wanted to look into is to remove the very niche quality of Wits End that by reducing a heroes MR, it consequently reduces any of their abilities that scale with MR (correct?). I don't think this should be a thing. By removing this it could allow the item to receive slight base stat buffs. Example: perhaps the on hit dmg could increase against targets with more MR?

reducing the MR to all enemies is a satisfactory enough debuff IMO and I'd rather the item not be too debuff oriented, so as to be less situational.

Also the M.R. debuff could also not affect any keystones that increase MR scaling / factor the flat mr reduction after.

all in all I think this would give the item a greater sense of belonging. and be fun as well, as the wave clear adds a mini game to last hitting.

Wits end is very situational, but in those situations it is deceptively good. Right now it's definitely being outshone by Rageblade's on-hit but imo it's only a matter of time before that takes a ding to its numbers. Buffing Wit's end to be a waveclear item seems strange. Also with what you propose it will be built on every single jungler to let them cheese objectives early, and get a decent bite of Magic Resist alongside it. Shen already has Sunfire Cape as a waveclear option, and Titanic Hydra. If you want Wit's End to be more of a common pick, I recommend looking at something that complements what it is already used for: picking at high MR targets over the course of a fight, and complementing existing on-hits (which does risk making it too OP on ranged but on-hit has that tendency).

edited OP added picture of what I envision this upgrade to be like.

you could make Clear Blade's passive work exclusively against lane minions only. I forgot to mention whether it applies to jungle or champion summons by as much or at all. I'll leave that to the devs' discretion. junglers could stick to just wits end.

not sure about the 2350 gold cost for wits end given the change I made. maybe could increase some stats here or there. Any needed adjustment / finalization can be done by Riot.

This item has a couple lane heroes in mind: Shen (for when you want to change it up and not go sunfire) for split pushing: item 3091(upgraded) + item 1054 + item 3512 would suffice. mini game aspect is also a little fun too. Irelia for using q reset on minions she has nice AP ratios item 3146 item 3091 would make her ultimate scarier and the gunblade would sustain well against minions. top lane Kennen Nidalee TahmKench even RenektonTrundle might find value to enhance their ultimate, even though Renekton has good wave clear, he could now afford to go a tankier route, his auto reset on W adds some synergy too. so many moreAatroxEkko Volibear Udyr Gnar

These builds would make pressing tab to view what the enemy is building more important. Whereas atm you can pretty much know what they will build from the get go (mostly a question of going for armor or mr first with the damage/waveclear items staying mostly the same).

I like how refund passives adds a minigame aspect to a game that is centered so much around last hitting. The trick would be to chunk full health minions with spellblade then last hit while it's on cooldown.

To add to this idea, perhaps Wits End's wave clear passive could be disabled in the presence these waveclear items: item 3025 item 3068 item 3748 item 3074.
It's more about adding build diversity and more ways to enjoy a hero.
Example as Shen could build: item 3091 item 3053 + an AS Doran item? I chose item 3053 because there was a Red post that mentioned revisiting it to make it more viable when not paired with item 3078.
Any wits end change (though I'm quite fond of having waveclear with it) would actually fit in quite well in the patch that will include changes to item 3053

Wit's End is fine as it is.
