Why can't I play lethality jinx mid?

On the outside I have to admit that it sounds really stupid but please listen to me. In my games iv'e been playing lethality Jinx mid and I am able to beat my lane opponent, get fed, and carry games. People who have never played it before or never been in a match with it before tell me that because I am jinx mid we are lacking an assassin and have no ap damage. If the support is ap (75% of the time an ap mage) and we have an adc to deal consistent damage why does it matter that I go assassin off build? I am able to 2 shot squishes and immobilize picks from extreme range and chain cc them. My ultimate also executes at a huge window. There have been countless time I have saved people from getting killed and was actually able to peel for the adc and 2 shot the support and enemy adc. Me playing Jinx mid I am not taking up a slot for a tank or an adc by building this bot lane. So I don't see the team griefing people say playing this mid does. I am able to perform the job of an assassin and other benefits. Why does it matter that it comes in the form of jinx?

I mostly play her mid because I get solo xp which allows me to carry a game easier and allows me to prevent a potential mid lane from feeding. Sometimes when the enemy has enough tanks I go regular mid incase botlane does badly (if we have an assassin jungle) and again, I get solo xp and easier cs than bot lane at its current state.

I expect this post to be downvoted the living hell out of.

try playing that jinx as a roaming support strat, I bet the boards would love it then.

No, I have sense enough not do that. But I will admit I played it support once and built ancient coin and lethality items. I got draven a double kill first blood and we snowballed the lane hard against a lux and Kai'sa. This was a ranked game too and not a normals.

yeah i've seen support jinx and ashe work after support mf became popular. but that's not the thread, you're just playing adc mid with a flava build which is pretty regular, plus i've always wanted to build lethality/armor penetration on adc's ever since season 3, long range assassinations is a thing in my world and the OG quinn was the best adc to do it on. but iunno, i don't believe people can honestly be upset about this pick cause it's nothing new lol, pretty sure one can go to redmercy's channel and find him testing lethality jhin in mid lane or something. if you like the play style then you'll be good at it lol, that's pretty much how it works with lol. last lethality adc mid i had was a jhin btw, he was fine can't pin the loss on his pick cause he exited lane 3/0/1, but we had a pre-rework morde in the jungle paying homage by going 1/7 so whatever.

Not sure why people are downvoting you... It sounds like you know what you’re doing and have had significant success.

Isn’t there a Challenger Blitzcrank Top main? And yet the boards are so often hostile towards off-meta builds, even when it’s a legit strat and not trolling

My friend who was one of those people that kept denying everything I said, and then he got in a few games with me and realized it does work he said, but once I get to plat it probably won't anymore. Even that though ill take it as acknowledgement that is actually pretty good. Now he lets me play it mid.

Listen, if you're having a good time and looking to enjoy your game, it's not so bad that it prevents that, so you do you. If you're looking to climb I think you're gimping yourself with it since your pick lacks the ability to abuse a level advantage, doesn't have priority target damage to deal with a fed opponent, and doesn't play to a lot of win conditions, but also that won't be abused in lower elos. So if you're enjoying your games... Whatever floats your boat I guess?

Dude with the level advantage I get A LOT out of it, you wouldn't imagine. I have full control over the lane and can kill the person ganking my lane and 1 shot the adc.

Well, no. Jinx doesn't get a lot of strength from leveling up. Leveling q is only attack speed or range on rockets. The attack speed is nice, but due to it requiring stacking and being a multaplicative stat, it doesn't give much damage/pressure just by leveling, and the range isn't huge since if you're using it, you give up wave control. W and E both gain 50 damage per rank, which is nice, but leveling W doesn't give wave control, it cant hit someone in the minion wave, and it doesnt have the powerful kit synergy that most other level first staples have, like syndra q, zed q, and most other mids (both meta and off meta). E, as your only peel tool with a very long cd, cannot be effectively used offensively until you're quite fed without putting you at a huge risk, making its leveling a safety increase, not a damage increase.

As such, your power spikes are gold dependent, not level depending, similar to a standard adc rather than a mid. this means you're not going to be spiking at equivilent times (you'll be quite behind, since your opponent spikes on both points), and you lose a significant ability to get a lead. Now, as i said, this won't significantly be countered in low elo, since people don't understand power spikes and whatnot, but it does mean you have less opportunities to get fed and impact a game compared to a better mid pick, meta or nonmeta.

Theres only a few things going for the pick imo. It does a lot of damage with items, which functions well in a fiesta environment. Just let the game go on and show up to fights, and take your shots. It takes the game out of your hands a lot early, but game time is decently long right now. It's also got the mordekaiser effect, where your enemies don't know the matchup and you do, making them less likely to abuse you. 0 clue how much of an advantage this gives at your level.

As i said before, its a game, you do whatever floats your goat as long as you're trying to win and such. But I do think if you're seriously trying to climb (imo the main reason to play ranked) then you're gimping yourself by playing it.

people don't like it when you don't follow meta...you know how many times I've been flamed for simply taking Warwick/Vi Top (my picks for when this game gives me first or 2nd pick in top) enough that i stopped counting

Like I and many other mentioned last time you made a post involving your jinx mid. Look, You can do it. You just cant expect to make a very high impact to far on the ladder.

Its just gonna remove a lot of your personal agency on game outcomes. Zap is easy to dodge. So your banking on Bad enemys to get off Zap harassment. Alternatively, you have to reactively cast it in response to teammates CC, your banking now on Teamamtes for set up.

Rather then banking on your ability to make personal impact of using something reliable. Zap is not reliable due to the inherent delay and broadcast. Its the core ability for your build. Best case usage for Q is not lethality because Autos scale far better with AS and crit for DPS. E is magic damage with no AD scaling. R requires distance as well as enemy HP to be lowered. Lethality might amp it but given that its literally an execute its not overly good synergy.

So you rely on good teammates, or bad enemys. So... You win games youd win playing basically anything because you had a good team or shit enemys… so your pick is basically irrelevant on match outcomes.

To reliably climb you need to play things that make impact, things you can win or change match outcomes with Vs good enemys and with Bad teammates.

No one will stop you. Everybody saying the build is bad is not trying to be a dick or claim your deadweight. Its just a flawed concept, the gains from doing it could be easily replicated with several better options, who not only accomplish the same end result of low CD poke but do it in AOE and have higher synergy with the rest of their kit.

W is one of the more unreliable poke abilities in the game. Stops on 1 target so its easy to minion block. Long delay so its easy to dodge, Telegraphed. The level of skill required to play around it is fairly low so you can only abuse players up to a point then your left floundering.

I honestly see way too many reasons for why this is a bad strat. What you're doing is honestly something an AD assassin can just do better. The only real perk I see with Jinx is a global ult, which is honestly pretty easy to miss unless you were roaming, which is still something actual assassins can do better at.

Nothing says you can't.

However...and this coming from a guy who does lethality Cait mid on casual occasion in normals, the primary weakness of an adc mid is in power spikes. Sure, if you get a level advantage, you run with it. But your lv 4 and lv 5 are not going to scale nearly as hard as say, a Zed's lv 4 and 5. Those Qs are going to start outscaling you really fast as you hit the mid-game.

On your side is the range advantage: now that the majority of ranged casters have left mid for bot, and these melee assassin mids are becoming more popular, you can keep these melees off their cs with tons of punishment, and keep a solid item lead over them. But the moment you lose that lead, they will snowball you into the floor.

I guess it comes down to enemy picks for me. In my games with Cait mid, I prefer going up against those low-range, but high-mobility sorts of champs. In their desperation to break my sieges, they become really predictable on both when and how they're going to try to gapclose on me, and as long as I stay away from them and keep kiting them well, I feel pretty confident in my Caitlyn skills.

Because you're butchering the entire reason you play Jinx for some random cheese gimmick.
