Ezreal has been gutted to the point where his winrate is only 0.46% higher than a champion riot specifically keeps gutted.
Of course you aren’t. There are still daily posts about “blonde boi op” and “make ibg melee only”. Only with one line of reasoning “This one time, I fed Ezreal 8 kills and he almost one hit me. :c”

While, yes, they may use the community sentiment as one factor in their decision making, it is far from the be-all, end-all reason for any decision they make regarding gameplay.

But I mean, with a consistent 20% pick rate, you kinda expect his win rate is supposed to be subpar due to the dilution caused by having a large player base, this is especially true since Ezreal is a rather skillshot reliant champion.

Champs that have kit that would result in a large variance of outcome depending on the personal skill of the players, such as LB, Ezreal, Ryze, etc. are supposed to have a low average win rate when they have a big enough player base.
Unlike playing say, Garen where usually even if you do bad, there's a certain bottom line you won't fall under unless you're just really, really bad. However this is different to say Ezreal or Ryze etc, where if you do bad, you're basically just a dead weight. And this means the average win rate of a high play rate on these kind of champs will be a lot lower than where they actually are due to a large number of players failing miserably at them.
There is a reason why champs like LeBlanc is intentionally balanced at a lower win rate; there is the saying that if LB were to go over 46% average win rate she becomes OP.

nm10101 votesConsidering skill is relative, that is a bad argument in any context. I would also point out that this season is probably one of the least skillful that has ever existed. I know multiple prior hardstuck gold and lower players that are sitting in diamond on negative winrates (some from this board).
My wife has observed that she is playing in nearly diamond mmr off placements after being low plat previously and not playing SR in years. The guy that got me into league hit challenger after not playing for years and was previously mid-high diamond. This season is by far the easiest to climb.
Edit: Also, this was season 3-4. You can still see the tail end of it on a lot of the league of graph's, well, graphs. Champions like Zed used to take a lot more effort to do well with.

10%. A 10% pick rate does not constitute being as low in winrate as the adc riot openly keeps in the shitter.

because ... bad players gonna bad? And if 1 in 5 players roughly are picking him, then ... he's gonna be played by a LOT of bad players. When Ezreal has a playerbase of maybe 600 people in high elo playing to win and has a 46% winrate he's trash but if he also has a 19% pickrate ... uh, yeah.

Mechanically complex champion with high room for error (missing key abilities, rewarded for landing attacks correctly and proper combos etc.) v. simple right-click champs like Ashe or Miss fortune = Much more likely that the Ashe/MF will win the matchup even if both players are of equal skill level and Ezreal is theoretically stronger (which he is.) Ashe just right clicks and occasionally presses W when theres no minions in the way or presses R for some added CC Ezreal has to actually chain abilities

That’s his plat+ winrate. So players who are on the upper end of the skill expression charts are managing that low a winrate.

WRONG people were talking about power creep when Xin and LB were new to the league. to say ekko is the start of it is ahistoric. that aside i don't buy into power creep being a thing, there's simply good design or bad design.
Sky Cardis1 votesEzreal is known as a "Basic Bitch". Easy in and out flash (and they always carry the flash summon spell) Long range and does lots of damage. Using melee items like Ice Gauntlets makes it hard to escape or catch up to him. (especially with those flashes).
But a lot of that can be said about any "mobile" champion.
The issue with Ezreal is no matter how hard Riot tries to kick Ezreal from the meta, the items he can synergism with keeps him in the meta, no matter what they do in spite of his changes or items changed directly because of him. Someone will find something to make him powerful in do time, no worries. Hence why hes a "Basic Bitch".
Posui Gart1 votesHe can stay there for all I care. His laning phase is cancer for both his support and enemy botlane(except Yuumi, who has somewhat similar playstyle). Nobody likes to play with/against him. And if people who miss 4/5 Qs can get >30% winrate with him, there is still room to nerfs
