why do fighters get the short end when it comes to kit design

everyone including riot complains about how the whole lot of them are a bunch of stat checks, and yet nothing gets done about it even in new champ designs. they all blend into the same mush when it comes to diving fighters especially, with a dash, an AA reset, and usually a hard CC that you can't avoid. only ever good when they can do a shitload of unavoidable damage while being more durable than an actual tank because that's what all of them bring; damage with a little CC

yet we have utility mages, utility ADCs, even a utility assassin (LUL). every other class besides maybe the classic supports has more variety even though fighters are the largest group of champions

why is it that the only way fighters get to have good non-selfish utility is through bullshit unavoidable pick potential like Camille ult. it's not even different from what the rest of them do; she just does it better. only exception to this is Fiora and her team heal. maybe I should play her

where is my utility fighter

Taric and Thresh would probably be closer to utility fighters.

they're supports, and taric is a tank

Which kinda brings the point in why there is no such thing as a utility fighter.

Tanks are beefy, frontliners, and use their utility to help their team. Fighters are also beefy and frontliners, but their lack of utility and damage scalings are the reason they are fighters and not tanks. The moment you give someone enough utility that isn't selfish, then they'll probably default to being played like a tank generally because of their utility. Just look at tank Ekko for example.

Fighters just lack utility for more selfish power. Kinda like assassins.

easy fix, give them AD scaling utility ratios

problem solved now they have to build damage

That just makes them heavily snowball reliant for their utility. Something that isn't snowball reliant at all.

works for fiora and her team heal though

That's one form of utility that's tied to her ult.

You're asking for a utility fighter, a fighter that is valuable mainly because of the utility he brings generally. You don't pick Fiora just for her AoE heal.

I could make a utility fighter tbh

I'm sure you could.

I could make a whole lot of utility fighters

I'm sure you could. And I'll have magnets for when you want to stick the ideas on the fridge.

tank

Debateable. He has way more damage potential than your typical tank. Also way more cc than your typical fighter/juggernaut.

There are a few good exceptions to this, but it's something Riot has acknowledged in their older fighter design. You're also a little over-generalizing, as often the form the dash or auto-attack reset or hard CC takes is more varied than you're saying -- that's sort of like saying most ADCs have an auto-attack enhancer, an escape tool, and a skillshot (which is accurate for a big number of them). Sure, it's TRUE...but the truth is a little more varied.

For Fighters with more interesting playstyles...

Camille, Ekko (sort of count), Gnar, Kled, Illaoi, Fiora, Jayce, Lee Sin, Riven. Those are probably the most distinct, although I'll admit it's an area I'd like to see Riot deliver better on as reworks keep coming.

Vi Utility fighter. She's still a fighter, but mainly utility based because of her Q and R.
