the meta always changes sometimes adc's are op sometimes assasains are op sometimes mages sometimes tanks, sometimes bruisers. But yes in a way I could see that adc gets more attention, but thats because a lot of the things that your giving out as attention to adc's is half the time Riot giving attention to supports.
Adc's don't dictate the game supports do.
Supports enable adc's to be played just like how junglers and midlaners are a duo so are supports and ad's
Supports balance mid lane. Because Mid lane and junglers have such an influence on the game that if left unchecked the entire game would be a 2v2. Supports are the ones that help bot lane pressure and works with the jungler to get wards and keep track of the enemy jungler enabling top lane, mid lane and bot lane to be able to be aggressive.
Adc's therefore have to be strong. Supports are a neccesary role, so if the the majority of the job of a support is to just track the jungler and lay wards that would make support boring and unfair. Supports have to also help there lane partner and supports also help them mid and late game in teamfights. The lane partner can't get as much exp since they have to share exp so he's also going to be weaker then say mid lane who has more exp. So the person with the support has to be able to scale and he has to be vulnerable to give supports a job and they have to be weak by themselves and be a target in teamfights so that supports have a job of peeling and doing other things with them.
So it would be unfair if supports put all this work into a person only for them to be just barely as strong as mid or top laners later in the game. When people complain about adc's they take about how they can't be killed because they get peeled or how they get help. What people really complain about 90% of the time when complaining about adc's aren't adc's but unknowingly and more often then not they are complaining about supports. But they attribute all the power that a support player has to they adc therefore people think of adc's as doing all this by themselves and complain when it's unfair but in reality it's two roles and there teamwork that does this. Supports are weak by themselves and adc's are weak by themselves but they help eachother and become strong. So if adc's are weaker then the other roles it's unfair to the support who put all his effort into the adc and peels and helps him all game. Sure midlane might also be a 2v2 but junglers have more strenght then supports later in the game and they still influence the rest of the map in other ways that supports can't so Adc's + supports have to be played as one role later in the game and there combo has to be stronger later in the game to make up for the weaker supports who would be weak by themselves. People always claim adc's are needed in every meta and are therefor broken and that's true they are needed every game but that's because SUPPORTS are needed every game and adc is the only role that can match well with supports and having adc's is also great for taking towers and other problems the game could possibly face without them. Dota solves this because towers are weak as fuck and the map is 20x bigger But if Dota had a smaller map towers would have to be stronger and they would start needing ways to take towers and if Dota also happened to need Supports in every single game then it would make sense to put the two together.
Just like how junglers and midlaners go together and 2v2 a lane adc's and supports go together and in a way they are even closer since supports and adc's are with eachother all game and not just during the laning phase.
Supports are so vital to League of Legends that without them I don't think League would even be a considered a viable competitive Esport. This game isn't which team has more mechanical skill it's 80% of the time which team has the best teamwork and keeps track of the map and figuring out how to strengthen eachother and this wouldn't be possible without both junglers and supports and even then the meta still shifts sometimes assasains are op as hell sometimes bruisers sometimes this sometimes that. Adc's are just more likely to be op at times since half the time it's not the adc that's broken its the support role and people just attribute that to the adc role. Right now I think adc's are strong because of supports. All this DD making adc's strong is Bullshit. Only draven and maybe Jhin builds DD and Jhin isn't even strong right now and Draven can be just as strong without the item as proven by the korean servers. What makes most adc's strong right now is Bork + Runaans + Supports with shields which has most the power taken from Ardent censor which essentially works with Runaans in such as way that it's like giving your adc a BT. People seem to barely notice it but if you look out for it whenever a support builds an ardent censor all of a sudden adc's get 10x stronger and even things like Master Yi get absurd a lot of extra strength from it and they don't even build Runaans.
Outside of Runaans + ardent censor about the only strong adc right now is Draven and I think most that comes from his strong early game + his passive + early tower gold and the fact that everyones running enchanter supports like sona or nami which is easy for Draven to deal with and a lot of the strong adc's are great for Draven to deal with in the early game like Twitch who is the second strongest adc.
