This game is a joke.

Look at it from a balance perspective. It will never be taken seriously until it cleans up.

so... never

Its bad but much better than many other popular video games.

WoonStruck1 votes

Actually, its much worse.

You'd be challenged to find a worse one.

You ever play hearthstone before?

In what way is it unbalanced?

Some cards are OP, and other cards are very underpowered. Same ways as league some things op and some things are trash tier. I do think that league is unblanced but honestly I would say that league is one of the harder games to balance. You have items, champions, masteries, and summoner spells that you have to work with. If you go to games like Call of duty or hearthstone you only have like single elements to nerf. For example Call of duty: this guns over powered people who use it win so many games or whatever all you have to do is nerf that one gun or that one grenade its easy to nerf and balance.

Of all of the games in League's class (MOBA), League is doing the worst balance-wise over a long period.

Even the games that are dead and gone now had better balance than League.

I'm not even sure they accept esports. I doubt most organizations outside of esports actually consider esports a sport.

Hell, I don't really consider esports as a sport. I'm sure someone who explain the common ground that allows it to qualify, but that's not much to convince someone that believes sports are at the very least physical.

You don't need to be smart to play the basics of chess. You do need to have a few things beyond that to play chess on a professional level.

Same with how a pro league player has more skill and game knowledge than an average league player.

SirTeemoMushroom2 votes

And how is that any different from comparing your average league player to a pro?

Pentas are not the main display of skill in this game.

The game isn't about kills.

Nuparu5 votes

Much like how an average bronze/silver player will die probably upwards of 10+ times and then ragequit in a Challenger game.

Different game, but skill discrepancy still exists.

By the World Games Organization?

I don't know about World Games but the International Olympic Committee considers it a sport, and thats about as official of a sporting organization as you can get. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Agreed. I go a bit further and say golf is not a sport either. It's a leisure activity with minimal physical activity.

Mostro Gallo1 votes

You cannot be serious...have you ever played golf?

Ralanr2 votes

At first glance it pretty much is a leisure activity. But like all "sports" their is a skill gap.

Xandraelle2 votes

Its not a sport, and people who play this game are not athletes. its a game. An E-Game

Matake9 votes

In a game where the outcome is decided at champion select, I wouldn't expect anyone to take this game seriously. It's really not a sport. It is in fact the opposite of a sport.

DarkRitual3 votes

Even in real sports, there are games that are decided before anyone steps on the field.

Sorry Cleveland Browns fans.

This guy gets it.

"Dude, let's ruin Shen for even the highest levels of solo queue because his ult is good for the LCS".

Actual players believe this. Those actual players are stupid subhuman shit-eaters.

Xandraelle1 votes

Should be E-Games anyways, Esports sounds like a whole bunch of neckbeards that want to be cool and try to be part of something they aren't.

Ahristocats6 votes

this thread will be filled about people that played league their whole life saying that it's the biggest esport while not bothering to look at other mobas/other games

lmfao

LankPants15 votes

By viewership League is unarguably the biggest Esport. I don't see any better metric you could use to judge the best Esport than that.

Ahristocats1 votes

compare the number of viwers to the population of league, then you will understand

meanwhile dota had 2 millions viewers out of 10 million players which is nealry 20% of the population

LankPants12 votes

Basically what you're saying is that League actually has some casual appeal? There will always be a subset of a game that just play the game and give 0 fucks about it as a competitive title. The main difference between LoL and DotA is that DotA falls flat on it's face when trying to attract these players and that's lead to it being a far more niche game.

That early game loss is the reason why the mean ADC in 2K17 LOL exists.

Oleandervine6 votes

Just because some CEO doesn't believe it's an eSport doesn't mean it isn't. Almost every other news source out there, including Yahoo, MSN, and hell, even ESPN categorize League as an eSport and have some degree of coverage on it.

^This is quite a regular occurence, tbh. Especially in science.

For example, with the discovery of the quantified nature of light (and thus, quantum physics) - lots of established scientists back then believed in the existence of a light aether or stuff like that. Max Planck, who made the discovery, initially did his stuff researching to support that theory - but his results convinced him that it was bogus.

The biggest problem with this game is that many people kinda think it's "peaked" already making it super risky to not only build things around (like an "olympics") but also to invest in (hence why a ton of orgs went with cs:go/overwatch, and only chose this one as a secondary/"last resort" option). Combined with the fact that rito makes massive changes every 2 weeks that more or less "screw the balance" of the game over and over again, and it does indeed make this game look a lot more "children's game" than it does "thing that could potentially contend with things like mlb/nfl/nba for viewership/audience".

i don't think that will ever happen tbh. Not in the states at least

How is this news? Why was commentary even necessary? Videogames are simply not sports. I don't care how you label it. Mashing on a controller/clicking a mouse/pressing keyboard buttons takes no physical exertion. I can take air hockey more seriously as a sport than I can take "esports".

SSJTribe2 votes

As someone else posted, how do you feel about chess? It is widely recognized as a sport and likely takes less / similar physical exertion than a Videogame.

I was a rising superstar. Then I reached for that rook, blew out my shoulder, tore my ACL and bam. Chess career over.
