sterak's is still pretty underwhelming tbh

the shield decays way too quick to be of any value and item 3052 is a garbage component item -- why do I have to farm it just to make it gold efficient?

i think it should decay half as quick or slower, and raise the price tag a little to compensate (clean up the build path, though. item 3052item 1036 and 1150 gold? ).

rn it's only worth the purchase on Illaoi because of her ability to slingshot from low HP to high HP near instantly if she plays well, other bruisers shouldn't bother

at least item 3157 is strong.

Situational, While before it had great AP and the CD on the hourglass was not as long it was a lot more useful. Now the AP it gives isn't as good and the CD is quite large. Hourglass is not always useful as in there are situations where all it does is stall a few meaningless seconds and at that point you should just not use it. But if you don't use it it's not being a gold efficient item at all.

This item give all IMO :

  • cdr
  • ap
  • great passive. It protect even when u mistake. I mean most of ap are range, and u shouldn't be at range of lethal threat

It has stasis active, so it protec

But it has AP and CDR, so it also attac

far too many melee ranged champions have gap closers also when you use it you are at the same time in the mercy of those around you whether is allies or enemy. It has great usage but if you don't find a good use for it it's basically wasting a slot because the stats are pretty weak tbh.

I love it on Morde. Think it's pretty good.

The shield decays way too fast though, but otherwise it's a great item.

Tons of damage/10

It is only really worth purchasing on juggs since they have extremely high base ad and usually have total ad scalings. However, I would probably consider buffing the hp on it to 500.

Big Lincoln19 votes

i wouldn't buy it on most of them, either

beef walls like Volibear Chogath DrMundo are better off getting stoneplate as their 'panic-button' item and the former 2 will pair it with locket anyway, Darius doesn't like it because base AD doesn't benefit his ult damage, Yorick has more important items to buy, etc

it's legitimately only still a good pick-up on Illaoi because of the nature of her healing. I'd much rather have the shield last longer than an extra 100 health, too.

C9 Squeeky 3 votes

I agree, stoneplate and sterak's are pretty much competing for the same niche.

Ralanr2 votes

The only benefits for Steraks is that you don't have to press a button and it doesn't reduce your damage.

Big Lincoln5 votes

idk if i'd say not having to press it is a benefit. just means that it's up to your enemies when and where your shield gets popped

TotalJerk8 votes

Yorick gets item 3078though, and Sterak's boosts the damage of the sheen proc.

Raven Redeemed3 votes

Yeah, I'd say Sterak's is at least close to a core item in Yorick.

Big Lincoln5 votes

well as far as i know the bruiser yorick gets tforce and titanic or deaths dance then full tank

and then jungle yorick goes full AD, neither of them involve steraks

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Replace Titanic w/ Sterak

Frightning2 votes

Titanic and Sterak's go well together, and both are health items, so you can lean the rest of your tank-stat items resistance heavy and you get a nice combination of damage and tankyness (even TF has 250hp on it).

Tobias Brackner1 votes

This is even better. I would totally love to see dmg bruiser Yorick w/ Triforce, Sterak, Titanic.

And if Shurima's tallest doggo is hungry for more damage, there's always this love triangle:

Darius's dislike for Steraks isn't because base AD doesn't help his ultimate, but because base AD doesn't help his bleed.

And the fact that you simply don't need the damage and there's better things to get.

It's both. He doesn't like it for the fact that r and bleed are bonus AD scale.

Not to mention he can get just as much tank out of deaths dance while having way more dmg.

Verxint1 votes

I didn't mean that his ult isnt bonus AD scaling, it's just that the extra damage from bonus AD his ult generates is nothing compared to his passive.

Not true, it's situational. His ultimate is WAY more important than his bleed against heavy sustain champs since the bleed is largely nullified and the ult is what has the chance to end a fight before they can sustain too much. This is seen against any ADC who builds a blood thirster or definitely a deaths dance

Verxint1 votes

His ult with no items, 5 stacks, at level 18, is 900 damage. A black cleaver makes that 960 damage. That's a 7% increase His passive, with no items, at 5 stacks, at level 18, is about 430 damage. A black cleaver makes that 480 damage. That's about a 10% increase.

This means purchases of bonus AD increase his passive damage by about 40% more than they increase his ult damage (10/7 ~= 1.4). The bonus AD does a lot more work through his passive than through his ult. Considering the passive is always happening while the ult is just an execute, the raw damage output of his passive is a lot higher most games.

The bonus AD does a lot more work through his passive than through his ult. Considering the passive is always happening while the ult is just an execute, the raw damage output of his passive is a lot higher most games.

But the raw damage of his passive isn't higher in particular fights, especially towards later game where the bleed, although nice, takes a back seat to the bonus AD gain which seriously empowers Q and R with their insane AD scaling.

His passive might account for a huge chunk of his overall damage throughout the game because it's a beast early and mid game, but towards late game it's all about how much damage his Q + ult can do to hopefully execute the ADC before said ADC fucks everyone over, hence the classic "5 stack the tank then Q R the backline" that darius wants to do in later game teamfights.

Verxint1 votes

HIs Q is total AD scaling, not bonus AD, so Steraks actually does help him there. His Q has total AD scaling of 1.4 at rank 5.

Keep in mind, the one offensive item Darius gets, he gets because it has amazing synergy with his passive. His Q and ult damage are important but by far the most important part of his kit is his passive. You don't buy Black Cleaver because of that tiny bit of extra dunk damage it gives, you buy it because it adds haste and armor shred to your passive. Even when he stacks on the tank and flashes onto the backline, the tank gets his armor shredded for 5 seconds after he flashes, and Darius remains hasted for 5 seconds even if he fails to connect a skill.

My point is that when a Darius player buys an item, he's rarely thinking "Oh man, this 5-7% extra damage on my ultimate is gonna be so amazing!". They get Cleaver because it has so much synergy with his passive. They get Death's Dance sometimes because of the large amount of AD and to have even more sustain. They might get Frozen Mallet because the slow makes it easier to get your passive up and keep your targets near you. For all of these items, the extra dunk damage is just icing on the cake. You aren't getting it for the dunk, you're getting it for something else and it happens to make your dunk a bit stronger. But the dunk could theoretically have no AD scaling whatsoever (except for AD granted by Noxian Might) and Darius would still want the same AD items he gets now.

Because steraks sucks balls on darius, but honestly it's a noob trap on everyone not named illaoi.

one thing people dont realize about streaks tho it increases your BASE ad, not your bonus ad, which is a big reason why you get it on illaoi, her tentacles scale of base not bonus

BobaFlautist1 votes

Pretty sure they scale off of total, otherwise buying ad wouldnmake them hit as much harder as it does. Still good with base ad though.

wouldn't surprise me, not everyone has infinite shielding though

can't imagine the shield is impressive though for how little HP he builds

you're not getting it

sterak is the only good AD item to morde beside gunblade that he builds

with both he ends up at 240 ad, and his Q has a 360% total ad ratio, 660% if we count the AD of the 3 attacks

Because your sheild is based of of damage dealt. Steraks+passive=Super hues

I haven't seen any marksman use it since it was changed to bonus HP.

That ezreal build would only get a shield for 400 right now, before it was changed the shield was over 700 for the same build.

The problem with Steraks is that you need about 150% of your base HP as bonus HP for the shield to break even with pre-patch numbers. Since item HP got redued across the board this is especially bad.

Big Lincoln9 votes

ADCs won't take it if the shield is bonus HP

right now it's just crappy for no reason
